I've got propane running fine to the stove but no hot water in my camper. I have a 2016 Coleman 274BH. Any ideas where I might be going wrong? I have no reception at the campground so I will check for replies in about 5 hours. Thanks in advanced.Re: How often should I wash my trailer & roof?I swear, forums are awesome. Most of you cracked me up... except the reply with the cracked rooftop. That freaked me out. I am very anal when it comes to the cleanliness of my cars. I wash them every 2 weeks religiously. Hence why the question came about. I do have the trailer parked under a carport but there's about 2ft of rooftop hanging from the back & the front. I bought the camper 3 weeks ago, took it to my mom's house (2 hours away) that same week, used it that weekend then brought it back home. We have no plans on using it until June. I bought a nice long brush that I guess I will have to use to be able to wash the roof. After seeing the link to the cracked rooftop post, I refuse to get up there. It does look like it'll be ridiculous work since I will have to get up the ladder, scrub, get down, move the ladder, get up the ladder, scrub, get down, move the ladder, get up the ladder, scrub, get down, etc... Now I know why these roofs don't get washed as often. I'll probably wash it every 60-90 days together with the rest of the camper. This morning I just ordered two 10x20 tarps to place on each side of my canopy for added protection from the elements & also added pool noodles to the canopy legs in the event they brush up against the side of the camper. I'd like to keep it lookin' gorgeous. Thanks everyone. How often should I wash my trailer & roof?Hello all. I just purchased this 2016 Dutchmen Coleman 274BH 3 weeks ago. I'd like to keep it looking like new for years to come. I have it parked under a car port so I know that helps a lot. I've only used the camper once & it's been sitting at home under the carport ever since. So here are the questions. #1. How often should I wash the roof of my camper? #2. How often should I wash the whole trailer? #3. Does anyone know the weight limit on these Dutchmen roof tops? I weigh 267lbs so I'm worried about getting up on the roof to scrub it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guestsThanks everyone. I've purchased the screen mesh for the back of the fridge. Now it's just a matter of figuring out how to deter them safely since I do have 2 dogs. Thanks.Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guests luvmydogs wrote: When we winterized here I didnt want mice getting in anywhere, including the places your concerned about. We stuck screen in these areas like the frig, propane (guessing you dont need heat like we do) and everything else the protruded we wrapped with screen. Went all winter in the woods and not one rodent. Dont see why it wouldt work for frogs. That's exactly what I may do. My main concern is frogs & wasps. I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow.Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guests luvmydogs wrote: I lived in Fla. for 25 years and agree, if you dont like bugs and critters, get out of the state. I apologize though, I dont understand why frogs are a problem with an rv. Do you not want them sitting on the outside of the rv? If your RV is all closed and sealed up, how would a frog get in? They are not like mice who can crawl and sqeeze into anything, or like some bugs. Can frogs really get into an rv? If you read my post, I state that I don't mind the critters when it comes to my house. I live in a very wooded area & that's part of life here. In fact I moved here to get away from the big city. I'm not worried about frogs getting into the rv but I'm worried they may crawl into small exterior areas like the refrigerator vent, the heater vent, etc... & create a short circuit since I do have my rv connected 24/7. I run the a/c about 7 hours daily to keep the interior nice n' cool.Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guests Here's another pic of the spot where I have the trailer parked while not in use.Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guests FDAER wrote: If you don't have pets try putting moth balls under/around the perimeter of your trailer. I do this in Oregon when I store the TT for the winter and never had a critter of any type inside. I would be worried about the frogs establishing a new home in your TT and attracting snakes inside. :E Unfortunately I do have 2 dogs that are all over my back yard. I use mothballs around the perimeter fence of my entire property to keep snakes away but I definitely need to do something about the camper trailer. I'm very worried. :( Another very important issue is if they make their way into any electrical components, they can cause a short & end up causing a fire. Critters can be a BIG headache.Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guestsI've never been too worried about the frogs/toads I have here. Not sure which they are. YES, they definitely help with the insect population which is why I tend to leave them alone. However if you look at the places where they usually tend to sleep, you will see some nasty brown residue left behind. I know because I have 2 outdoor outlets around my house with he caps you can open/close. One has a broken tab & they love sleeping in there. You can see the brown sludge that forms in that box. I can only imagine what can happen to a camper that won't be used but once every 8-12 weeks or so.Re: Storage, bugs, critters & unwanted guestsThanks Drumming102. Westend, the problem I have is even if I spray or irrigate the lawn with any type of product, frogs tend to jump onto my carport or fence. I wouldn't want to remove the carport though. I actually extended the height for the very purpose of keeping the roof away from the direct sunlight. Whatever I do, I gotta do it quick, otherwise they'll create their own habitat on that camper. **** shame too, it's brand new.
