With the cheap ST ones that were used from 2015 to 2020 I would say 4 years. Thats when I replaced mine with a set of Maxxis tires. They are not LT but much better than the China bombs that came with the trailer. Age is a bigger factor than milage IMHO.Re: Towing 5th with an Andersen Hitch in Short Bed TruckWhen I had my GMC 2500 it had a 6'bed and I put the coupler in the position to allow more clearance between the trailer and the cab. I also had a low profile roll up bed cover. The bottom of the pin box on turns over 60 degrees would contact the bed cover track and damage it. I did raise the ball up one level and it still made some contact. The next season I got my GMC 3500 and it had a 6'5" bed so I turned the coupler around and have had no issues. So be aware pushing the pin box back in the bed will also affect the clearance to the sides. Now if I did not have a bed cover rail there would of been no issue but its something to look out for. Now this was with the stock pin box. I did upgrade to the MorRyde cushioned pin box and it does have a different profile that may have solved my problem of contact but I upgraded with the new truck so I will never know. Anderson is great as its so light the wife can install it.Re: Towing 5th with an Andersen Hitch in Short Bed TruckTo answer the OP's initial question and not off topic like this has gone...the short bed will work with the Anderson hitch. It does require situational awareness as does any hitch. Take it too far and there can be damage. The Anderson pulls fine. Just be aware that any placement of the pin further back of the rear axle will affect the ride somewhat. So that offset ball pushing the pin further back will work but you might get more "chunking" or sag. And that will be with conventional or Anderson hitches. The only difference you can see between the Anderson and conventional setup to the trailer will be a conventional will have a larger contact area with the pin box. I dont see how this stresses the frame more. It could break the pin off of a badly welded pinbox but maybe there is something I am missing or its just CYA of the manufacture. The new Morryde pinboxes are much beefier than the standard pinbox that used to come on the pre 2019 models.Re: Tonneau CoversI have the soft TonnaPro style cover that stays down with Velcro. I usually put wood up against the can and leave the cover over it. I use bungie cords that go from the loops at the cab side down to hooks in the bed side. It keeps the cover in place without flapping. I may have to occasionally pull things tight but if the bungie are close to where the Velcro is it holds well and does not interfere. I put my gen and cooler between the hitch and tailgate if needed. I have the Anderson hitch so there is plenty of room.Re: Standard hitch vs. gooseneck hitchBTW what ball are most using for the new GM HD trucks with factory puck system? I see Curt makes one and so does ReeseRe: Andersen HitchI agree if you have a camera on top of the cab aligning and hitching is a breeze. I have the cup forward on my 6'6" bed and the only thing I did was take a gouge out of my bed cover rail. I will grind off the wings on the hitch this spring to prevent further hitting. Thought about turning it around to see if it eliminates some of the chunking I am getting but my new TV will probably take care of that as I am going from 3/4 to 1 ton and longer wheel base.Re: Why is 5th wheel standard vs Gooseneck? And with todays technology of cameras on the cab its easier to line up the ball. I have an Andersen hitch which uses the ball style hookup and I can align it by myself just using the camera without getting out of the seat.Re: Morryde Rubber pin boxAnd if you still have chunking after trying the MorRyde pin box and equalizer, you can always add some kind of damping of suspension using a shock kit or a sumo spring. Lots of options out there.Re: Prostate cancerProstrate cancer is a sneaky one in that you may not know or have any outward signs. Mine was reduced flow which prompted a visit to my urologist. Blood test revealed a higher PSA (went form 1.9 to 4.5) number and biopsy confirmed cancer. This was at the ripe young age of 57. Ten years younger than my dad had experienced. I opted for the 44 days of radiation and now have been 3 years cancer free. Just be diligent with your yearly PSA blood tests and those uncomfortable finger checks to catch this early. There is only a 5% chance once caught and treated it will not come back.Re: Morryde Rubber pin boxThere is actually a third option. A 11.5K or less. I bought the 11.5 to 14K one and it moved very little on my 303.You can see where the pucks are sliding and I had about 1/2" of movement of less. So I had to anti up for a lighter spring which works great. With a GVWR of 12K I thought I got the right one at first. But I am never fully loaded and am closer to 11K so the lighter spring (rubber) works for me.
