We are retired and I will drive 2 extra hours not to have to go through a major city.Around Chicago west to east?I know this has been asked before but I couldn’t find it. We are heading to Shipsawana from La Crosse Wi. I really don’t want to go through Chicago area. I’m looking at I-90 down to Peru Il then try and find a way over to 31 north in Indiana. Does anyone have a good route over ? We have a 36 foot fifth wheel and I’m very okay with not driving interstates. ThanksRe: Oklahoma City to Palm Springs Ca. In February best route???Thanks all. I did not realize Flagstaff was higher than Denver. I like the route DFord posted DFord we are now in north central Missouri around 30 miles east of I-35. Again Thanks.Oklahoma City to Palm Springs Ca. In February best route???We are heading to Palm Springs from the middle of the country. I am looking at 40 west in Oklahoma City. We are coming down by I35. We don’t like to drive much more than 8 hours a day. This is our first time traveling in the winter have family near Palm Springs. We have a 5th wheel and hope for no bad weather. Any help would be great. Thanks.Re: I-70 thru Kansas CityKC traffic at 10 in the morning isn't too bad. 435 would be a long way around. Just watch the signs and speed limit is lower through town. Down town KC isn't that big compared to ST. Louis. 670 is a faster cut through but just a little bit trickier but not too bad. p.s. nice RV park on east side of town, Blue Springs http://www.makeyourdayhere.com/Facilities/Facility/Details/Blue-Springs-Campground-37Re: We picked up our GD Reflection!Just finished an almost 3 week adventure in our 293RES and am very happy campers. Pulled great. We went 2700 miles and only 5 campgrounds. Good luck on the new trailer, we love ours.Re: Picking up Reflection 303 next weekWe only have the 293RES. We are in Middlebury now and have been to the birth place of our trailer. I am very impressed. We got a personal tour of the factory and it was very cool. We were dead set on getting another Forest River until we found this one, best thing we have done. Is it 100%, I don't think so but it is very nice. I wonder if we saw yours being built. We won't be able to make it to the rally but wish we could. Enjoy.....Re: Elkhart In to Hannibal Mo ? CloudDriver wrote: We drove I70 east from Indianapolis to PA a couple of weeks ago and the Indiana portion was really rough. Can't comment on I70 west of Indianapolis as we came down I74 from Davenport area. Looking at Streets & Trips, I would try route 20 west from the Elkhart area to route 31 south to route 24 west. S&T shows routes 20 and 31 as divided highways and route 24 is divided as far as Logansport IN. After that, 24 is 2 lane. We used route 24 2 years ago and got off onto I55 to Springfield then I72 west to Hannibal. If you are going further west, route 36 across MO is a great divided highway, which we drove back in May. I looked this one up and looks very good. We thought our roads were bad. Sorry Indiana, your roads are bad. We have enjoyed our stay but have gained a few pounds here in the Amish area also have not paid very much for a lot of food. Camper WILL be over weight on the way home and that is just in the front seats. Thanks to all who responded.Elkhart In to Hannibal Mo ?We are heading home from the heart of RV's and are going to stop at Hannibal on the way home. On the way here, we came up 65. What a horrible ride, the road was one of the worst we have ever been on. I do not mind two lanes and do not want to take I-80/90 to Chicago. Are there any easier routes to take? We're in no hurry, just don't want the rough roads and big truck laden journey. Thanks in advance.Re: Senior MomentsHappens more and more all the time..
