If I was a banker and in the business of making loans, there is no way I would loan someone a substantial amount of money if they had a P.O. box for an address. I would suspect it would be just too easy for someone to "get lost" after my bank loaned them $150,000 for that new MH. I may try them out with a credit card but the limit would be capped at about $500.00.Re: Traveling thru Alabama to FloridaWe have used Rt. 231 for the last several years going back and forth. Deer Run is an excellent CG with very friendly management.Re: Flush kit for black tank B.O. Plenty wrote: Flush King will run water in through the outlet and fill tank. Not much different than pouring in water. A tank flusher mounts in the side of the tank and the water pressure going directly inside the tank will help clean it out. Just drop the under belly and install it, then seal it back up. You'll probably be pretty disappointed when you see how little insulation your "Polar Package" has in the floor. Most of the Polar Package is mainly a decal on the side and a bunch of hype. B.O. There will probably be two different "camps" out there on this issue. I have a year old fiver with OEM black tank flush system and never use it. I will only use my attached FLUSH KING. The Flush King allows you to back fill your black tank from the bottom with a lot of water. Simply keep your gray tanks closed and use the Flush King to rinse out your black tank as many times as you want. If you decided your gray tanks need a cleaning, then close your black, open each gray tank one at a time and use the Flush King to rinse those out. Finally, the Flush King give you an extra gate valve at the end of your sewer boom so you are sure to never have a surprise when setting up camp and taking the cap off of the end of the sewer boom. There is a video out there where someone in a shop had a RV black tank sitting on a table. The video shows it hooked up to a standard OEM black tank flush system, and then hooked up to a Flush King. It was interesting to watch the OEM flush system work. Most people think it sprays all over and cleans the sides of their black tanks, but they would be WRONG. It does spray a little but generally it is only letting you put water in your black tank from high on one side. Whereas the Flush King allow you to fill from the bottom. At the conclusion of this video the RV guy says that one system is about as good as the other.Re: Pulling 5th wheel through YellowstoneTwo summers ago we visited there. Stayed outside the park and just drove in during the day with the truck. When we left we towed through and it wasn't a problem. Just don't have a blow out of any issues because pulling over could be a problem.Re: Mail Forwarding ServiceWe actually now have two addresses. One is our S&B in Florida, and the other address is our son's home in Illinois. Our son's address in Illinois is what we have used while full timing and prior to recently purchasing the Florida home. We just went to the post office and filled out the mail forwarding card. They told us that ALL first class mail would be forwarded from Florida to Illinois. I could be wrong but I assume that would include tax papers and anything else that was first class.Re: Going full-time insurance company needs physical address.Well Joe (NewFirst_timer) you have gotten numerous ideas on ways to proceed. Just be sure to check all the costs associated with any type of mail forwarding or mail handling services as some can cost several hundred dollars per year. Also when it comes to changing your registrations to your new "home" state. I consider my new Florida annual registration fees to be pretty cheap. However, when initially changing over title/registration to Florida it cost me just under $500 for the first vehicle for the first year. Regular annual renewals may be cheap but the initial cost is very high if you are changing over several vehicles/trailers. It just takes a lot of research to determine what State and what direction is best for your individual needs. Remember that everything will come into play, including state income taxes, local taxes, etc. Good luck with your adventure!Re: Is your travel trailer cozy and homey??We have a few photos hung. A small corner shelf with a small mantle clock that chimes, and some other stuff that seem to fit when going from 3,000 square feet to just over 300 square feet. I installed new backsplash in the galley and bathroom which added a "homey" feeling also. Friends of ours with the same make/model described theirs best as a "cozy apartment".Re: Mail Hold--What do you do? 2gypsies wrote: Nowadays, why do you need your mail? Set up your bills with AutoPay and you never have to think about them. We have been paperless and had everything on auto pay for years. But I sure am not going to toss all my mail. Not only could you miss a jury notice, but there are tons of other unexpected things you could miss that could cause you issues. If someone steals your identity your first clue may be something that comes in the mail. A doctor's office or health insurance provider makes a billing mistake and thinks you owe money, sends several notices with no answer, and then hands it over to collection. I would do as someone else suggested, just have it forwarded to a local family member or friend in your home town area. They can monitor it for important items and save or discard the rest for you.Re: Going full-time insurance company needs physical address. My mail is thru Escapees (All ready working), full-times Ins is thru Progressive, As far as having a legal address, I'm using my son's home address. I should be on my way by the end of August. And then it's of to somewhere cooler then Texas. When we started full timing we did something similar to the above. We went with KISS (keep it simple stupid) thinking. We changed our permanent address to our son's, kept our driver's license, registrations, insurance, and everything else in the same home state. He goes through out mail and forwards anything important, which isn't much since we do everything online. To us this was the easiest and cheapest way to go when we started the full time lifestyle.Re: Buying in Florida....We haven't switched over our RV insurance yet, but regular vehicle and homeowners insurance is more in Florida than "most" other states. We changed our address from Illinois to Florida recently and our auto rates went up around 30%. Annual registration ended up being a lot cheaper though.
