All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Can I use the same WDH when I switch trucks I have done this. The main issue will be the change in ball height. Get this, I traded in my 2007 Tundra for my 2017 and the new one was higher. I did have to reset but it didn't take long. I have and Equalizer and the company has some very helpful steps to follow. Re: Should I install a WDH? Yes, you need a WD hitch and almost as important, one that has built in sway control. I tow with a half ton TV and my trailer weighs in at just about 6500 lbs when we are out on the road. I have measured this a few times over the years as Washington State leaves their weigh stations open and functioning even when the sign says "closed" I can pull in, position the trailer on the scales and look in the side door to see the measurement. I don't know anything about this hitch but it looks much like my Equalizer in design only with the scale on the ball. Setting up mine took a few adjustments but it rides level, is not hard to hook up and provides a solid connection between truck and trailer. I recommend a WD hitch, especially when you have a half ton. Re: Dometic Servel RGE400 fridge too cold If the sensor is high up on the fin it will make the temperature in the fridge colder. Move the sensor down and it should keep things "warmer". Cold air pools down low so if you have the sensor down low, the cold air will get to it sooner causing the fridge to shut off. Just the opposite if it is high in the cavity. Takes longer for the cold air to pool around the sensor, hence it runs longer, hence colder temperatures in general. Re: Sway Control I have been towing with my Equalizer since around 2005 and I don't have much, if any, groaning. I follow the Equalizer suggestion to grease the square moveable brackets where the bars insert into the heads. Just a little bit and while it is counterintuitive, it works. I think the fact that my Equalizer is getting old and broken in also helps. I have over 65K miles of towing with my current set up and sway isn't a concern. The brackets they sell would be worth a try if you are still concerned. The company designed this hitch, the company suggest some light grease on the head and the company designed and sells the plastic covers for the L brackets. I doubt that following the companies suggestions will put you at risk. Re: New to rv What do you mean by "all season" rv? There is no such thing about an RV that you can camp in 365 days a year, unless of course, you live in Florida or Mexico. Generally speaking, the more expensive and the heavier the trailer is the more well insulated it might be. An Arctic Fox is a good example and I would guess it would be much better than anything that is advertised as a "Lite" or an "Ultra Lite" camper. Re: Water Heater will not shut off It could be a bad board. If you have replaced the thermostats, take a look at the board. Re: Wheel bearing repacking I have mine done every 10,000 miles. I purchased our 2006 Airstream in 2009 and took it to the Airstream Dealer and had them do the bearings and check the brakes first thing. They told me that I didn't need to do this every year but should do it every 10 K miles. This is what I have done and it has worked well for me. Some people lube too often but most don't do it nearly enough. Re: Winterizing tips and tricks If you use the pink stuff make sure you drain your water heater and then bypass it. You do not want the pink stuff in the water tank. I did this once by mistake and it took most of the summer to get rid of the smell and foaming. I use air only and have done that since 2009 without problem. I live in Eastern Washington where it gets very cold in the winter. Re: Format Suggestion Thanks for this MORSNOW. Like I said, I am trying to get used to the new format. Format Suggestion I am still trying to get used to the new format. Listing the responses from newest (at the top) down to oldest at the bottom gives me heartburn. Someone posts a question about a specific issue and the first response I read is actually the last. It often does not have much to do with the original question because this was addressed early in the discussion but those remarks are posted at the BOTTOM of the thread. I used to like just jumping in, reading the responses and following the discussion. I guess I can do the same but now I have to scroll to the bottom and read it backwards. This is small potatoes in a world filled with real problems but it remains a bone of contention with me. Thanks for listening. Solved
