Folks have "shimmed" the front and rear with thinner plywood under a bed mat. I haven't had every model of GM, but 2 different 2016s, a 1500 and 2500, bed was flat as well as my 2020 1500. Maybe this is only a thing on long beds? Mine have all been shortbeds. Shimming the back with additional pieces of bed mat is what I had in mind but just wanted to hear others ideas. If you put a straightedge flat on the front and middle of the bed there is a 3/8” to 1/2” gap at the back. This is what I did to my 2015 GMC 3500 dually, I placed a 1/2” thick rubber mat across the rear of my truck bed. I believe it was about 20” wide, it got rid of the rocking/movement. If you don’t do the shim the bed sheet metal will crack from the flexing. That’s what I’ll go with then, thanks!Re: Truck Bed Crown Grit dog wrote: This has been brought up a couple times before. The original beads of adhesive were white and flexible and seemed to adhere very well. It would have to stand up to high temperatures obviously. Any ideas?Re: Thoughts on Lance Nose Cap Filon Replacement Bedlam wrote: Grit dog wrote: In lieu of filon, I’ve considered light gauge diamond plate sheeting. Fairly inexpensive and would look good I think. My 2012 Arctic Fox came with this on the leading and trailing curves as an option. Did it have filon between the two curved sections?Re: Thoughts on Lance Nose Cap Filon Replacement Grit dog wrote: In lieu of filon, I’ve considered light gauge diamond plate sheeting. The piece of filon I’m replacing is 96” x 66”.Re: Thoughts on Lance Nose Cap Filon Replacement phillyg wrote: Use 1/8" luan plywood, kerfing on the backside as needed. I will look for some, that would be a better option than the hardboard. I thought I was spelling kerf wrong but didn't bother to look up the right way. Thanks.Re: Thoughts on Lance Nose Cap Filon Replacement Kayteg1 wrote: Did you check Lance forum? They have several rebuild pictorials available. Applying new filon require some jigs to apply even pressure, what is not easy for DIY. I repaired nose on my camper by pulling the siding out, replacing rotten wood, adding Styrofoam where fiberglass was used and gluing it back. It did not make it perfect cosmetically, but better frame that original. I'll check it out. I think I could do it, my immediate problem is the backing for the filon. I thought about curfing the back of some 1/8" masonite but that sounds difficult.
