Had to take the front bumper off and do some slight mods but overall fit pretty good. I went with the "Silent Hitch Pin" before getting involved with turnbuckles and straps for stability. $35+s/h. No need for anything else. It's tight as a nut! thanks for all the advice here. RickRe: Cirrus 720I went thru one. Unfortunately I knew more about it than the dam salesman. I really wanted the 820 but the layout is very similar to the 720. Upon inspection the DW and I decided we didn't like the layout. The booth kitchenette is tight and though they claim someone could sleep there it could only be a child. The step bumper (diamond plate) seems quite heavy for the benefit. Last year they could be had for $25,000 if you travel to New Hampshire. All other dealers I searched out wanted $30,000. The 720's wet shower floor spills out into the main walkway of the unit. Being made of plastic I could see that some damage would be inevitable. Sirrus was no help as their dealers are limited. We ended up removing the bumper to remove the tow hooks. We had to grind off a 1"x1" corner of the hook bracket as the install bolt was to fat for the bracket to lay down flat on the frame. Took about 3 hours. It is solid as a rock on the frame. How much do does it impact your clearance? The bottom of the hitch receiver is 14" off the ground. The cooler/rod implement extends about 28" in front of the truck so you have to keep that in mind navigating hilly areas.Re: Front Hitch receiver F-250Just finished installing the Curt front hitch. Assuming your Curt hitch your looking at does not.. I think attaching the the turnbuckles to the tow hitch defeats the purpose of stabilizing the implement. Wouldn't you want the hooks attached to the truck?Re: Front Hitch receiver F-250Great info guys. I had thought about the turnbuckles and that's what I'll try first. The lock nut will be plan B. Thanks RickFront Hitch receiver F-250I am looking at putting a Curt front hitch receiver on my 2008 F-250 super duty. From my previous beach buggy life in the 80's I still have a Hamburger's (Pt. Pleasant, NJ) custom made aluminum cooler/rod holder rack. I had 2 square receiver tubes welded to the front frame of my truck for easy attachment and removal. Instead of welding new receivers on my F-250 I was thinking about just buying a Curt, 500 lb. capacity front hitch receiver. 4 bolts to the frame and it's on. The thing I am worried about is the sway and give with a single attachment point. Is the hitch receiver snug and tight with the different implements you can use with it?Re: Raising TC Off BedI had to add height to the TC because the bed overhang touches the running lights on my truck cab. I used 2" thick Foamular 250 high density extruded polystyrene. It works perfectly. It also allows me to reach in over the bed rails to utilize for storage (fishing poles, umbrellas, furniture in a bag, etc.).Re: Cargo trailers with tongue extensionsI made a 30", 3/16" thk. 2"x 2" piece of square steel tube with a hole for the ball and one for the pin. It fits right in the factory hitch. It was less than $30 and is stronger than the trailer tongue. My camper sticks 16" out of the bed of the truck. It works great albeit I'm only pulling a 14' aluminum boat. It was an "engineering marvel" LOL.Re: Why aren't Truck Campers popular in W. Pa.?First trip with the new Adventurer. We had temps in the 60's two weeks ago so we did a weekend practice run at Quinemahoning state Park, Pa. Everything went well as we learned some things about our new toy. Edit: Ok, how do I get the pic up? Moderator edit: only one set of image tags
