Five cars were damaged that night, the driver stopped, saw what happened, and drove away. No one got his license number. Glad nobody was hurt.Re: Mayberry CampgroundWe stayed at Mayberry Campground last fall, on the way back from Disney World. It was a very nice place. All the power, water, and sewer hookups were new. It seems like the owners have been putting some money into the place. The terrain is hilly, but the sights were level. Lots of pull throughs were available. If you get a chance, go to the Andy Griffith museum in Mt. Airy's Historic District. If you are there before 2pm, Definitely go to "Snappy Lunch" and try their Famous Pork Chop Sandwich (for $4.05!). It is really quite good. Have fun!Re: campgrounds in/around Buffalo NYFour Mile Creek State Park is excellent. Inexpensive and right on Lake Ontario. The Branches of Niagara on Grand Island is also nice. It is a private campground, relative new and well maintained. Grand Island is in the middle of the Niagara River and is convienent to both Buffalo and Niagara Falls.Re: Darian Lake State Park or another placeWhat is your destination in Western New York? I live near Niagara Falls and would be happy to give you some ideas.Re: A few tips on our biggest trip yet to Disney ....Great tips! Why would anyone want such a place, you ask? I'll tell you. My spouse and I are teachers. She teaches middle school and I teach high school. We spend more time with them than their parents and usually know more about them than their parents. When I'm off camping on a long weekend, break or summer vacation I don't want to be around them. Teachers need breaks from kids, of any age. Before you judge anyones reasons maybe you should stick to an answer or just lurk. Ouch...
