Honestly, I have better luck using google search for an area of map, then clicking on individual parks to try for a reservation, I can usually tell within seconds if they're full or not, then I'll get on the phone, call, and reserve that spot. I am terrible at keeping to an agenda and all my road trips are on the fly, never spent the night at the side of the road yet (one McDonald's parking lot tho).Re: Redwood National Park questionThere are small RV parks in most of the small towns along the avenue of the giants, you can google map them to see if there are trees to your taste.Re: Looking for good campground in Portland ORA lot of local mobile home parks have RV spots. I just googled "rv park portland" and the map showed several.Re: Lamoille Canyon NevadaThe canyon is beautiful but if you haven't visited/camped at Angel Lake, you're missing the best part of the area.Re: Camping etiquetteIn all my years of camping, only one KOA experience. It was gross, and that's being diplomatic. I could hear the neighbor snoring in their rig. Much prefer boondocking, with respites at motels or nice state parks.Oregon Alvord Hot Springs - Position AvailableFrom Alvord Hot Springs Facebook Page "To all Alvord Hot Springs fans. DO NOT LEAVE the movie theater when the movie is over the reveal will roll your socks down. Well worth the time don't miss it. Unless it's a cloudy day, which is most days, then the "reveal" is pretty anticlimatic.Re: Is Mt. Hood, Oregon worth a couple of days?A few hours at best - see Timberline, maybe Trillium Lake (Frog lake is more scenic in my opinion) and then 35 to Hood River, lots of places to take a short hike or photo opportunities. The entire place is overpopulated with stupid people from PDX, so, avoid a weekend day.
