After so many years of being a family owned business that stood behind their products with a lifetime warranty and quality products, it's sad to hear where Dometic has taken the line. I was a fierce supporter of them for years. Many years after buying my previous MH that had one fan above the kitchen sink (that made a terribly annoying ring when it ran) I stopped by their table at a FMCA rally and asked what to do about it to make the wife happy. They asked the year of the RV, I told them it was a 2001. Then they handed me a new motor assembly and asked if I could do the replacement or if they needed to send a tech out to do it. I told them I could handle it. There was no charge and I got to keep the old parts - still around here somewhere. They said a one time (back in that time frame) they'd gotten a bad batch of motors and had heard that complaint from several owners. Times have changed from what I'm hearing. After many years in the business, it was time for the original owners to retire and they sold the company to Dometic. The rest is history. These days we're dealing with a corporation that has a profit motive as their paramount driving force.Re: battery wiresI've always heard it was best to have a matched set of batteries to avoid problems in the long run. I'd replace all of them. Take a picture with your phone of how they're wired before you begin taking anything loose. They should be wired as two pairs in series. The positive on one battery goes to the negative on the second one. You will get 12v from that set. Do the same for the other set. Then both sets are wired in parallel so the 12v from the two pairs stays the same. That doubles the amperage available. Take a picture and then make a drawing of what's in the picture. Label the wires. Label makers aren't real expensive.Re: Entrance steps won't go outSorry to have led you astray Mike. Your experience sounds much different than mine. The teeth on the ring gear on both the old and new went all the way around. I used the whole new assembly except for the drive gear which came of easily. The output shaft on both assemblies was the same size and so the gear fit.Re: Is anyone going anywhere? There's a lot to be learned from this article: Why the Second Wave of the 1918 Spanish Flu Was So Deadly https://www.history.com/news/spanish-flu-second-wave-resurgence From the Article wrote: Re: Is anyone going anywhere?Leaving home and coming down with the virus would be a perfect storm with no way out. I'm staying put until it's much safer to go out. Darwin has a way of weeding out those that don't think. I wear a mask when I go out. It will do a good job of protecting others if I cough for sneeze. I do that in respect for their health and I expect them to return that respect by wearing one. I see too many thinking they're somehow immune or just don't care. I don't want to be around them because I value my health so I'll stay at home until the danger passes.Re: Winegard dish cannot find gps signalMine did that. Call or email Winegard for tech support. They will walk you through troubleshooting the problem. Be sure your cable/cords are in excellent condition. Try a new shorter cord right at the receiver to eliminate that variable. Make sure to cable is rated for 3Ghz. They had me take the cover off and use a multimeter to take some readings at various places on the control boards. I ended up shipping it back to them where they replaced a couple of components on the circuit board that had failed. Very few shops around that repair circuit boards but they make their own and know how to locate the problems. They usually send you a new set of cables but won't ship you old ones back unless you tell them to up front.Re: Entrance steps won't go outWhy go to that trouble when the whole unit bolts in with 3 screws. No need to even open up the worm drive section. Just change the gear on the output shaft and bolt it in. Take a look when the replacement arrives.Re: Crash Guards on TowedBuy the "crash guard" or Push Bumper and take it to a welding shop. They should be able to add pins to match the tow bracket so you can use when you're not towing it. Maybe then you'll want to move it to the front of your MH.Re: sold our class aI'm glad to see I'm not the only one that "Service Temporarily Unavailable" is biting in the butt. From Matt's end, he has no idea he triple posted - I know because it's happened to me too. Wish there was a way to delete our own posts on this forum but there's not.
