All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Banff 2 QuestionsFrom someone living in the area all the above advice is good. Tunnel mountain is one of the better places if you are in a big unit and want full services at that time of year. Too much like a parking lot for us but you can't get too picky yet. Weather is very up in the air at this time of year too. We could be like summer as we were this year or there could be campgrounds not even open May long due to them being full of snow especially the early part of May. Try to go later if you can and there are more options that will be open to you. Early May can still be dicey around here and if all the Farmers Almanac and weather guys are correct we should have a cold a snowy winter so spring may be a little later than the last few.Re: V-Nose Towing TheoryI talked to some engineer types at one of those high tech one man cars as we have some of the top in the world here. I asked about that and they told me that they are almost doing it backwards. The biggest gains would be had with the shaping at the back rather than the front. Flat front doesn't help but the flat at the back is even worse. As mentioned that is why you see semis not with the extra piece on the bottom of the trailer.Re: Old Generator is tired, 3500 watt enough for TT?It should run it assuming nothing is wrong with the unit. First things I would do as mentioned earlier is to shut off all the other things that may be running and see if that fixes the issue. Remember there are items we forget that run that can draw a lot of power. The hot water tank element is one make sure it is set on gas only, charger is another as it draws a lot of power and you never see that it is on, fridge a small one but make sure it is on gas setting to name a few.Re: Refilling 16 oz propane bottle off a 20# tankNot to go too sideways but wow on the propane issue for you guys down south. I remember back in the day up north we were running cars, trucks and everything on propane and everytime we went south people were waiting for us Canucks to be blowing ourselves up. Propane has been around for a long time and as available up here as gasoline. Take care, do what you are supposed to do and it is a great fuel. Maybe some day southerners will get have propane refills on every block as we do and realize it is safe. Natural gas is the next big thing that seems to be coming so get used to it.Re: Seattle campgroundI second Lake Pleasant. We have stayed there several times and always been good. Just make sure to reserve and let them know the size of your rig. Most spots ar egood size but some are small.Re: Who has been refilling 1 lb propane tanks?I do it all the time especially in winter when dragging my big buddy out on the ice for ice fishing. Save a lot of weight from a 20 lb. Check out the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD1CmorB_qMRe: Can I tow this TT? cowtownup wrote: Its a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 with extended cab and 6.5' bed Tires are rated at 2535 lbs at max pressure of 44 PSI I will have try to run by scales today and get the individual axle weight. 44lbs are more like passenger tires not LT already at a disadvantage.Re: Carlisle Radial Trail RHI was one of the people that took a chance back in 2012 when they were hitting the road. No issues yet and we camp in the back woods, nasty roads sometimes, and did a trip from Calgary down the Oregon coast to California and back. Father in law put a set on his fifth just prior to our California trip and his have been great too. I wouldn't hesitate to put on another set or improved version whatever they may call them.Re: Alberta Canadian Camping reservation Secrets for AmericunsThe funny part is the passport etc. is not for us but so they let you back in your own country. Without it you may be told to stay and become one of us. LOL...... CavemanCharlie wrote: I've thought about taking a trip to Manitoba this summer. It's only about 10 hours north of me. If I could get a 4.5 day weekend off from work I might do it. Problem is I would need a passport and I don't have one. I have heard that I can get one at the local courthouse on Thursday mornings from 9-12 but, I rarely ever drive the 20 miles to the town the courthouse is in during that time period. I'm also afraid of what might happen when I try to cross the boarder. Are they going to frisk me ? Do a body cavity search ? Rip apart my pickup and travel trailer ? Beat me up ? I've never met a Canidiean before and I don't know how they will act when a 52 year old working class person in a 10 year old pickup and 20 year old TT try to cross the boarder. Re: 5er to TTThere are plus and minus to both. What used to be that 5th wheels were always nicer interior than fifths is now a myth. Many of the TT mfg make them just as nice interior wise and the same sizes as fifth wheel. There is more storage on a fifth but you do lose some of the bed so depending on what you bring with you either could be good. Water tanks can be just as big on TT as 5th now a days too so look around and you can throw that one out too. There are better hitches out there now too that make towing a breeze. When towing a beast you should spend the money on one of the premiere hitches. If you do towing will not be that different. Don't spend the money and yes you will have the doesn't tow well scenario happening especially on the large units. Bottom line is look around and be open minded and other than the extra storage under the pin area of a fifth the rest of a TT can give you the same comforts for a lot less dollars.
