The construction type generators (like from Harbor Freight) are made for use on construction sites, not in campgrounds. Having camped next to someone with one of those $300-500 generators, I would not like you as a neighbor. We have the Honda 2000i and Companion that will supply 13.3 amps each. One of them will run all of the 110 volt (standard) outlets and systems in our 38 foot Cameo. If I want to make coffee, use the microwave, or the air conditioner, then I have to run both. With both of them running I can stand next to the exhaust and have a conversation without raising my voice. We have owned them for over five years, use them a lot and they are still in good shape. Go for quality not low cost.Parking at the Walmart MuseumWe are planning to visit the Walmart Museum in Bentonville, AR on April 6, 2016. Does anyone know if there is parking nearby for a truck towing a fifth wheel? Our combined length is 55 feet.Re: South Dakota Drivers License RenewalYou can call the DMV to get an extension of your current license up to a year to give you time to schedule a trip to SD.Re: TPMS adviceI have the TST 507 on my fifth wheel and I now have peace of mind going down the road. I have a 38 foot fifth wheel and have not needed a repeater. My set came with 6 sensors, so I put four on the trailer and the other two on the inside wheel of my dual wheels of the truck.Re: Options between stops - SE USAWe generally plan to travel only 250 a day and we have done an overnight in Walmart on several occasions. Most states prohibit overnight stays in their rest areas. We have had generally had good luck with Walmart. Sometimes local laws will not allow you to camp overnight, so we always call ahead to make sure it is OK and where they want us to park. We sometimes make reservations and sometimes we don't. If the park we are headed to is very popular and fills up quickly we make reservations. BTW we have been fulltimers since June 2011.Re: Where to stay in winterWe typically stay at the Naval Air Station RV Park in Key West, but I am retired military. Many RV parks will give you a reduced rate if you stay for more than a month. If you are interested in Arizona, we stayed at a place called Pueblo El Mirage that I liked and the monthly rates were reasonable. Lots of things to do, it's like a small community. I found Arizona to be a bit chilly in late Dec - Jan, which is why I prefer Key West. Corpus Christi and Houston are nice areas. I hope this helps.Re: Full Timer Address Mail ForwardingWe use Americas mailbox in Box Elder, just outside Rapid City. They do a good job. Pennington County does not have a "wheel tax" which makes them more affordable. Not only do they do mail forwarding, but they handled registering our truck and trailer, also renew our plates for us. They acted as my resident agent when I had a small business (LLC). They have their own campground and a small hotel. Because we were not going through SD at the beginning of our journey we flew to Rapid City, spent the night at Americas Mailbox. In the morning they gave us a receipt and a map to the DMV and told us what we needed. We exchanged our Michigan licenses for SD licenses, drove the the Courthouse and registered to vote, did some sightseeing and flew home the next day. For a small fee Americas Mailbox gets rid of the junk mail and sends us the rest. We can request our mail via their website and they send us a tracking number when they ship it. We have been very happy with their service.Re: Passport America or Escapees Mail Service? We use Americas Mailbox in Box Elder, SD and have been very happy with them. However, we established our legal residence in SD using Americas Mailbox. Not only do they do our mail forwarding, but give updates on changes in SD laws that effect us, acted as my resident agent when I was running a business (LLC), and have gotten our license plates/tabs for us. One question you should ask yourselves is where will you travel to on a regular basis? We have to physically go to SD to renew our Driver Licenses. We spend more time in Florida than in SD and it may have been better to use RVmail. We have planned to travel through SD this year to renew our licenses. SD will let you extend your expiration date by six months so you can schedule it easier. My expiration is in March, my wife's is in Dec. I will get an extension and she can renew six months early so we got it covered. Just something to consider.Re: RV Wireless TPMS Systems - which one is preferredI bought the TST 507 sensors ($350 for the monitor with 6 sensors). I used 4 sensors on my 38 foot fifth wheel and put the remaining 2 on the inside wheels on the truck rear axle (I have a dually). I have been VERY happy with them. I did not need a repeater to get the signal from the trailer to the truck cab. As far as customer service, anyone who answered the phone at TST could help me with any questions I had, I didn't have to be transferred. When I was decided which model to buy, I sent an email with a question using TST's website and I received a return phone call from one of the owners! On the subject of steel valve stems; if you are going to spend $350 for a TPMS, why not spend $5 each for steel valve stems?Re: How do you hang your bath towels? We have the same kind of shower. We bought a clothesline rack from CW that hangs on the rear ladder. If we are traveling or it is raining we hang them over the shower door.
