When my Gabby was a youngster and I was using a regular small wire cage she did fall and hurt her beak when I stopped short. From then on they ride in their carriers.Re: Parrot cages for the RVlol, You did a great job on the remodel. I'm sure you will have to make another at some point.Re: Parrot cages for the RVPaulsang, you do have one pampered feathered kid or fid as they say. That is an ideal situation and we do have a chair to remove. Problem is we have two parrots that have to have their own space. So they are stuck in less than ideal cages and come out several times a day to play on their individual stands. Pkunk, Your macaw has a wonderful home on the road. I'm surprised to see the cabinet still in one piece.Re: Parrot cages for the RVWe converted small dog carriers to travel cages with wire bottoms and perches for when we are moving. The acrylic cages didn't give them a place to hold on and Gabby hurt her beak once when I had to brake hard. That's when we started to use the carriers. It's also easier moving them from the house to the RV in them. Was also handy when we had a 5th wheel. We also have two T stands for them to come out of their cages a few times a day. They don't play together so cage top isn't a good idea with them.Parrot cages for the RVWe have two parrots. A 21 year old African Grey and a 20 year old Yellow Nape Amazon. They have been traveling their whole lives and do very well. The thing is we have been using 18" wide x 18" deep x 25" high acrylic cages in the RV. They have the air holes in the top. These travel cages have been fine for weekend getaways but now that dh is retired we can go for longer times and I don't like the birds cooped up in these small cages. I also don't want to get larger acrylic cages. They can't climb around in them. The only good thing about the acrylic is they keep the mess in. The cages ride side by side on the dinette. I'm thinking of using two conure cages 20.5"L x 16.1"W x 34"H or something similar. I'd like to know what kind of cages other Parrot owners use for travel and how do you keep the seed and food off the walls and furniture.:@ TIA, Carol, Gabby and ChiliRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos Okie in Wyoming wrote: I have read many suggestions on how to keep toilet paper or paper towels from unrolling while traveling. Here is what I do: I take a straight pin with a colored head and stick it in the the last sheet showing on the roll. The colored head helps locate it when we arrive. To keep track of the pin, I slide it in the side of the roll, parallel to the sheets, near the cardboard tube. Stays in place there until we travel again. Works every time. All I do is flatten out the roll before putting it on the holder. It will not unroll on it's own.Re: Pet Food RecallSubject: UPDATED PET FOOD RECALL LIST FDA Expands Peanut Butter Recall to Include Pet Food Products By: Courtesy of FDA Pet Food Recall The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to investigate potential Salmonella contamination of peanut butter and paste made at the Blakely, Georgia facility of Peanut Corporation of American (PCA), and is informing pet owners that the recall also includes some pet food products. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Well animals can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian. The FDA has not received any reports of illness associated with the pet food products. I can see why this rig has such a following. It's just beautiful. I fell in love with it! I loved the sofa, and the pull out counter among other things. We're happy with our little Cougar for now but if I could talk DH into a larger rig, well, it would be this one. So Congrats to all that have it or are getting it!!Re: Whats Your Real Weights? I sewed a rod pocket in top, inserted a long tension rod which fits in the window frame. I previously tried velcro to hold up the cover but the velcro won't hold in this heat. It makes a big difference when the sun shines on that back window.
