I waited ONE time for road service to change a tire for me, 5 hours! And that was only because we had a spare. No spare, I'd have waited a day and a half. Will I try to change it myself? That depends on how I feel at the time and also where I am. But I will NOT be at the mercy of a roadside tire sale.Re: Spare tire ??I carry a mounted Spare on an Simpson/Road Master tip mount on a double hitch extender. I also carry a 42" breaker bar, sockets, the dress cap removal tool, chocks, an impact wrench and a jack stand to support the breaker bar and extension. I can loosen or tighten the lugs, I can move the tire to the required location. Will I change it? Have to see where it happens. I had a front blow out a few years back in my previous coach. Took over 4 hours to get service, Swore that would not happen again.Re: Insurance CancelledWe had NI for 11 years. They stopped writing in NJ and were going to put us with some other CO, Cna't remember who, except it was expensive. Wound up with Progressive. Had three quotes, three prices and three different coverages, all Progressive, MAKE SURE you are getting what you think you are. In NJ we have limited choices, only a couple companies write large RVs. My brother has a B and his regular auto company had no issues.Re: Tow Dolly - newbie recommendationsIf you are not going often and you still want to get around when you get there there are two options. Tow or rent. I have some friends that rented and they were good with it. Me, not so much, we bought a new Jeep Liberty that is now 10 years old. we have towed it well over 50,000 miles. We flat tow and have a built in brake, we have moved up in RVs 3 times since we bought the jeep. We rarely go anywhere without it. As for a dolly, no thank you. It has all the issues of towing plus it adds to the complexity. You have to load and unload the dolly AFTER you have reconnected it to the RV. With our flat tow system we can be hooked or unhooked in under 4 minutes. even faster if on really flat ground.Re: Bunkhouse class A questionsWe are on our third Bunkhouse RV. We had an Itasca Sunstar and an Itasca Sunova. We now have a Tiffin Allegro RED. They all would fit an 'Average Size Adult' but not me. If you are 5-8 or so and 160 or so, OK. Our daughter fits fine at about 5-9/125. The space makes great storage, but take care about over loading. The Itascas had simple curtains, one on each level, the Tiffin had doors, operative work HAD. I removed them and stored them. Too hot and also difficult to navigate past when open. I installed a curtain rod and bought a pair of drapes.Re: Do I Really Need A Brake BuddyNot having read all three pages word for word forgive me if this has been covered. You may or may not be required to have supplemental brakes for your toad, BUT if your toad were ever to get loose and you didn't have a brake away system you would most likely be held responsible for any and all damages.Re: FMCA to allow Towables Owners to joinIn the world of RV Camping chapters or groups one of the big problems is scheduling. OK, I was in my mid-50s with a 14 YO daughter in school and I worked full time. Like to join your chapter and go to a rally. Great we rally Wed thru Saturday. Gee Thanks, maybe in 10 years when I retire. You want younger people you need to hold your rally when they can attend. You need you Big Rallies to move around and be accessible with only one week off from work. Address this and you may see much of your membership problems go away. We are now finally at a point wher I can take off and go if I want to. So we found a group to join. We've been trying to meet others to camp with, but it seems a lot of younger people go to a CG and that is where they go. We want a group that goes to different places. And that is where the older group has the advantage, we can take that trip on Tuesday to Saturday, the younger crowd can'tRe: Poopy Paper ProblemOK, Here is what you need to do. 1) Make sure you have a few gallons of water in the tank to start. An empty start guarantees a P&P Pile. 2) Use paper that actually dissolves. 3)Use TankTechRX treatment. Just went for a week no odors, no issues. Plenty of water each flush, at least half a bowl, good paper, TankTech. Actually the tank had been in use two weeks prior, but had a very low level so I didn't bother to empty it. Was doing a bit of a test just to see if this stuff worked. It does. I might not do this in Summer, but Fall and Spring, no issues. Summer I am sure I'd dump more often.Re: DEF AdditiveWalmart brand DEF in 2.5 gal is not too bad, about $8. still cheaper at the pump, but fuel fill in the front, DEF in the rear. Have to move to use it. But will be doing so as my local Walmart seems to be forgetting to order DEF lately!Re: Flying J RV Fuel LanesDownside is just like a 'regular gas station' they don't have DEF at the RV islands. Otherwise generally no issue. I use FJ with the charge card, get 8 cents off cash price. YES you can get fuel cheaper, but you can park overnight at most FJ and they usually have a Denny's or similar. as well as being easy in and out.
