I leave my camper at my favorite campground in California's Trinity Alps paying but $25 a month for storage. I leave it up for the summer season so only one "set up" a season, but I purchased a "tent cot" (Under $200 US) for side trips elsewhere. Easy to set up in less than 5 minutes, it is on a frame that is off the ground & incredibly comfortable. It is the extra wide/long single size allowing for storage of personal items inside & it is easy t get in & out of. It easily fits in my Saturn View (a small SUV) along with my inflatable kayak allowing me lots of options in camping. As a old guy with a less than perfect body it is a great option. I take 3 to 5 side trips a year with itRe: Bear rips into sleeping family's tent trailerSeen bears rip open Hummers so heavy metal is no protection.New SeasonAfter selling my pop-up twice last year only to have first check bounce & the second buyer forfeit his deposit I decide I am staying a "Pop upper" So I purchased a auxiliary Refrigerator with a freezer compartment as I have a spot on my campsite for it. Getting ready to head up to Trinity County home of thousands of acres of unspoiled wilderness, less than 14,000 people & according to some up to 18,000 bears, Thousands & Thousands of deer,Cougars, bob cats, foxes & even an occasional wolf said to be a natural born Oregonian. Also incredible mix of Fowl including all the normal plus Mute Swans. Then there's the Trout, Steelhead & Salmon. So May 8th is the arrival date for the next 5 months. Hope all have a great Summer! PS My 30 year going to The Trinity Alps & my eleventh summer long visit there since retirement'97 27' Wilderness TTLooking at same. Seems to be in very good condition. Asking $5,000 thinking maybe offering $4,500. Plus? Minuses? Price? Any & all advise.Re: New to 5th wheelsThanks NewkRe: New to 5th wheelsThank you three for great advise!New to 5th wheelsI'm a retired guy camping most of my life & the last 11 years in a Jayco 10X pup. Love it spending my Summers & into the Fall. I have decided that the big city (Bay Area) is less & less desirable for this Ole Fart (71) so am planning on moving up to Lewiston, Ca where I have spent my Summers in my Pup. I'm thinking of purchasing a 5th wheel (used) to live in April through mid December spending the balance of the year at my place in Mexico. I would like to keep cost under $10,000. Something 24' to 30' in decent condition. A must is a bed with open sides to make for easier making. What should I look for as for as condition, equipment, etc? How does one determine roof condition etc? I have a list of possibilities & I plan to start looking next week. Any & all suggestions welcome. Thank You!Re: Spring is coming.....excuse double post.Re: Spring is coming.....Hanging here in Mexico until first of April. A month at home then off to the Trinity Alps in May for the Summer of hiking, kayaking, fishing & camping. It is my job & I will continue to do it a long as I am out of the urn! LOLRe: aliner expeditionGreat for one or two but no room for guests.
