I bought a matching wheel for 35 bucks and a tire from Les Schwab for 100 bucks. Its not mounted because I have a bike rack attached to my bumber. I just throw the spare in the bed of my truck.Re: 5th wheel lock?Locks keep honest people honest. Buy a lock...If someone really wanted to steal your rig, they would find a way. That's what Insurance is for.Re: Trailer tires, radial vs. bias ply Lwiddis wrote: I understand from a number of sources that passenger car tires don't have the stiffness in the sidewalls to safely handle a travel trailer. Yes! x2Re: Need New Battery, Auto Or Deep CycleI got a Marine/RV deep Cycle Battery at Walmart for 75 bucks. I think its made by Johnson Control. 75 bucks is a small price to pay in case you ever need the extra juice if you go off the grid.Re: Buy tires or not avvidclif1 wrote: That's a mathematical question. Less than $1k for 4 tires. $3-5k damage if tire blows. I can attest to this! Buy new. Its the right thing to do.Re: Given your knowledge, would you do it again?Gosh...It sounds like your rig is working great and that you have been very. Keep that feeling...enjoy your current rig and go camping. That is what I would do. I love that my 13' TT is paid for and that I am the only owner...I know its quirks. Did I say its paid for:)Re: Trip to Mt.Rushmore mackelprang wrote: Am leaving southern Utah in late May and traveling to Mt. Rushmore and badlands.would like to stay off interstates as much as possible. Like to take about 10 days to get to Custer SD.we are pulling a 37 foot 5th wheel with a 2002 Dodge Cummins. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love Custer SD....Go to the Purple Pie Place and black hills burger and bun. We stayed at Beaver Lake Campground in Custer...Best CG ever! Keystone is an hour away, highly recommend. Aside from Rushmore, visit Crazy horse. The laser show at night is really cool. have fun...Re: Towing AdviceNo way...need a 3/4 ton or a smaller TTRe: Ok, Time to Come Clean and Admit Our Screw-UpsThanks Bob for making me feel better about myself! I forgot to chock my TT and it rolled into the back of my truck. Ack!Re: Newbie seeking adviceYour dealer should set you up with sway bars. This will help your trailer from moving side to side when you are traveling down the freeway. Black water tank is toilet waste and gray tank is filled by showers and sinks. I forgot...another essential is water pressure regulator. A quick Amazon search will pull one up. This will protect your water lines when you hook up to city water.
