ThanksRe: 271 Ah upgradeLate to the thread but interested in your project. Please explain your capacity. I get the 4 3.2 batteries have 271AH. but don't two 12V 100Ah Lifelines have 200Ah? So you have a significant improvement, but not 2.5 times. Or am I missing something?Re: Dolly for Truck CamperI've been using a metal dolly purchased from Rieco for many years. It has a hitch so I can move it with truck, though once inside garage on flat smooth floor I can move it by hand. It has fixed casters in the rear and swivel casters in the front (hitch).Re: Reddog1 "Wayne"RIP Reddog. Wayne was personally helpful to me in setting up a flat towing system for my Jeep. He will be missed.Re: loosing old membersWow, I guess it has been over 10 years. I'm not on here much lately but check in once in a while. Miss the great trip reports that use to be more common. Just mostly retired last year so camper is getting more use than ever. Now shopping for a new truck.Cabinet latchesI have just finished some upgrades to my 2011 Lance 1191, stereo and LED lights. Now I want to upgrade the cheep cabinet latches that continue to come loose and bend. Does anyone have a favorite to recommend?Re: Yeah, another tire questionDid you consider BFG KO2 AT? Similar tread pattern, stiff sidewall and great traction. They come in stock size. I've had mine about a year now and am very happy with them.Re: Newbie needs help picking the best battery for Lance TC.I have two Group 27 Lifeline AGMs in my Lance for 200AH capacity. These have been running strong since fall of 2010. I think you will be fine with a single group 31 for summer use. Furnace fan is the big power hog in winter. Upgrading to LED lighting will also be a help as lights are a significant consumer of power. Also have the trimetric battery monitor which I would recommend.Re: Do you unload you camper from truck when camping? One of the reasons I have a truck camper is so I can tow boats. I take mine off most of the time depending on the situation and certaily would for what you are describing. I struggled at first when I got my Dodge until I figured out that the bed rails are not parallel. Now I just look for equal spacing at the back on each side by using the mirrors. Takes a little practice but piece of cake, rarely need to recenter, only takes a few minutes to load/unload with electric jacks and never use a spotter.Re: Using a 48" Extension on hitch RoyB wrote: Be sure to get MELLO MIKE's blessings... He runs with lots of Truck Campers with long extensions... I always thought this one was neat from his blog page showing a long extended hitch with chains to make it stable.. google image Roy Ken Hey that is my rig in the pic, posted by Mellow Mike with my permission, to illustrate boondocking off the main roads. This is at the bottom of Shumaker grade in the Grande Ronde canyon. I will be there again in Oct. That is a supertruss hitch and it also tows my 2009 Jeep Wrangler or 21ft Seaswirl Striper WA cuddy. Both significantly more load than the pontoon boats shown, but still within the rating of the SuperHitch. It is a 48in extension and I see no reason that the OP can't use longer than needed so long as he stays within the rated limits that are posted in this thread.
