Now that I have an electric, I think about how nice it is every time I use it.Re: Air lift questionI have installed airbags on my two trucks I use for towing. My 1/2 ton squatted a lot with the 900 lb tounge weight and WD hitch. You adjust the air pressure to bring up the rear ride height to 1" less than no load. I do think it helps with handling. You are adding more spring with each additional psi in the bag. As the suspension moves, the effective psi is being changed This is precisely what you want. In a static position, with WD, and depending on load 60- 80 psi in the bags, the truck and trailer both set level. My 3/4 ton with the same trailer feels way more stable, and uses half the air pressure due to stiffer stock springs. The same WD hitch needs to be set up differently, to accomplish the proper ride height of the front tires. Although my air bags are both firestones, I switched to the air lift dual path wireless controller and smaller compressor on the new truck. I do prefer the wireless controller, significantly less installation hassle, and cost. I give up a pressure tank and compressor capabilities. However, using either mini compressor to air up a flat LT tire is outside their service factor. I don't know which bags are the 2000 lb bags you state. Ride rite and airlift bags are rated at 5k - way beyond your trucks capacity. The 1000 lb airlifts are for coils which I don think you have (kinda an option for the new Rams, but not recommended)Re: Roof vents need replacingI'm also in the desert sun and all my vents expired within 6 months of each other at the 3 year mark. I used replacement fan lids and camco vents covers. Now my camco covers are failing, which I attribute to wind and uv brittlle. I will try maxxair next. The good news is the covers did protect the lids.Re: air bags vs air bags with tankI like my Firestone setup with manual independent controls and gauge in the cab. Air compressor works off a pressure switch with an attached small tank 1 gallon (?). Tank keeps itself at 80 psi. Without the small tank, the typical bleed of air lines and reduced pressure due to temp changes would likely bump the compressor frequently. It's nice just to lift the valves in the cab to get air in the bags or to dump air. If I need to add air to bikes I drag out a coiled up air line with fittings already attached. I keep a spare mini compressor in the Rv, just in case - I could back feed into the tank My on board compressor is small and not recommended to fill truck tires, but has done the job, just takes longer than the duty rating.Re: Best buffet in Laughlin NV?HarrahsRe: Drive Off ChecklistAirline Pilots use checklists on all flights, everyday. They are even required to say the steps out loud. Checklist are a good thing.Re: Sewer Tank FlusherI think it best to add water before you go to dump station; let the drive shake things up. At the dump station, connect all, start the black dump and then start the flush. As the black dump appears to be finishing , stop the black, and start the grey dump -1 to 5 min. This lets the black fill little with clean water. Stop the grey early to finish the black. Then shut off the flush, drain the black, then complete the gray dump. It lets you do all with out spending an hour.Re: LP Tank QuestionI can laugh at this now, but fortunate to have proper working safety equipment. Each time I see a question like this I am reminded of how I learned that I had an auto change over regulator. It was a cold and windy night boondocking. 20f and windy. 4 of us in the toy hauler. I awake at 3 am freezing. Heater not running. I must be out of propane. I check the stove, yep no gas. Shut off stove. Run outside, lift the propane cover, turn on light, yep red shown on tank indicator. Flip transfer knob, turn on gas, gas indicator goes green. Put cover back on, shut off light, go inside, heater turns on. All is good. I fall back asleep until propane detector goes off. I Silence alarm, check stove, open door and wait. All is good, go back asleep. Propane detector goes off. I silence alarm, check stove one more time, open door and wait. All is good, go back asleep Propane detector goes off. I silence alarm, open door , air out, it got really cold quick, turn on lights, check stove, Opps stove is on low not off ( looked the same in the dark). All is good, but now it's 5:30. Turn on water heater, lie down and try to fall asleep, can't. Wake up take shower and head to work. Kids slept in until noon. I never smelled any propane.Re: WD hitch Curt Mfg.I have this setup. It works fine and I did add a friction style sway device. I did have an issue with a spring rivet backing out. This spring engages the piin when the bars are inserted. There is a kit you can order to replace the rivet, spring and pin. Must be a common problem if curt sells this as a kit. To repair or insure this doesn't happen again, I installed a hose clamp over the Rivet.Re: on board generatorI know of people with onans in their toy haulers who have bought off board generators to minimize hours and vibration. I don't subscribe to that philosophy.
