Congrats and have fun camping!Re: Max Payload vs. Pin Weight (Ford, Ram, Chevy)Just traded in a 2015 Chevy 2500HD which was overloaded carrying our 40' 5th Wheel but it did not break, we only towed it a few times before buying the new truck. The new truck is a 2018 Ram 3500HD with a 6.4L Hemi. Yellow sticker payload of 4323lbs, 7000lb rear axle. I am not sure claims of a 4000lb pin weight are always true with today's 5th wheels where the trailer wheels are now more forward. My unloaded mfg weights are 11575lbs (yellow sticker) with a max of 13,980lbs loaded. The unloaded pin weight is 1980lbs. So real world if I load the trailer with 2000lbs that would equal 13,575, 2000lbs seems like a lot to me but I am sure it is possible! Figuring a 25% pin weight would be @3400lbs. So an additional 900lb cushion for people, tools, hitch etc. seems plenty and I would still be under the axle and tire ratings. 25% seems high but for arguments sake I went high. YMMV :) Any way you look at it far safer than the 2500HD which was a great truck!Re: 13'5 5th wheel vs 13'6 bridges? GHop wrote: With our Arctic Fox, if the underpass is not 14 or above we go around. Don't ever come to the East Coast then. I-95 alone has lots of 13'8" bridges :)Re: New Truck/Hitch QuestionThank you all. As it turns out the truck was sold yesterday, the price was very good hence the fast turn around. The search continues....Re: New Truck/Hitch Question Cummins12V98 wrote: A little info goes a long ways when wanting a question answered! Do they even do it? Would you trust them? Thanks!Re: toll plaza selection on I-95 - MD to PAGot our EZ-Passes through Mass last year, we live in CT, no tolls.....yet! They required me to register the pickup as a commercial vehicle because of the plates. In Ct we have "combination" plates for any vehicle over 7500lbs gvw. Mass now takes pics of all plates (no more pay tolls at all). If your EZ Pass matches the plate you are good. If it does not they send you a bill in the mail. This according to the girl that signed us up. We have four EZ Passes and they are all registered to the specific vehicle. For the truck I have one for towing and the other for just the truck. All in all it is still cheaper to have the Pass, and Mass does not charge for transponders you just have to keep a balance in the account.
