Then first year out after purchasing would be for just 4 months of travel and come back to s&b to work 8 months. Then, maybe, work-camping part years or full time after that. We are open (read undecided). We have a 9year old dog and a young cat (1 year old). Neither one is "car trained". We are leaning toward a Fifth Wheel because I'm 6'8" and for the feel of the 5'er. We're interested in peoples experiences traveling with a cat and dog. We figured the dog in the truck, possibly in a kennel in the backseat of a dually crew-cab truck. What about the cat?? What do people do with the cat when traveling... in a kennel in the truck...in a kennel in the Fifth Wheel...loose in the Fifth Wheel...???TT vs 5th wheelI could not locate this with a search... We (wife and I) are on a 1 1/2 year plan to start 4 months RVing December thru March and then 8 months home working. Then in 3-4 years full time RVing with some work-camping. We have were leaning toward a used MH until pricing ones I can fit in (I'm 6'8"). Then started looking toward used 5th wheels and used tow vehicle. Lately, realizing a TT might be cheaper than a 5th wheel. However, it's been hard to locate a used TT with enough height. Any thoughts on TT vs 5th wheel? Suggestions on TT interior height. Thoughts on the need for a 4-Season insulation package?Re: how do national parks measure the length of a 5th wheel? Sturgeon-Phish wrote: When we were planning our trip out west last year we ran into this same thing. Measure tip to tail or spare if that is the longest point. No way hooked up. Most older national parks are not set up with a lot of sites much over 30'. Know when you are planning to be there and register as soon as possible as most especially the popular parks fill up fast. When regestering get as big as you need and if not available ask about nearby campgrounds. Jim Thanks! We're looking at 5er's and mhs tomorrow, but a long way from buying. Way to much to learn!Re: how do national parks measure the length of a 5th wheel?thanks for your response! I'm concerned about the entry points (pay stations) at the Parks. I know some parks limit size of rig that comes into the park. That is the measurements that concern me. Also the camping spot measurements...I didn't even thing of the stay hooked-up or not hooked-up. Lot's to learn!how do national parks measure the length of a 5th wheel?Looking at buying a 5th wheel (or maybe a Class a mh) for the first time. One concern is how National and State parks measure the 5th wheel and/or 5th wheel and tow vehicle to determine their length restrictions. A class A mh would be easy to determine the length of, but a 5th wheel??
