I use seafoam a couple times a year. Usually when I am going to run a whole tank full and use fresh gas. I use stabil in every tank of gas on my 92 2 stroke 9.9 merc. Still runs like a champ. Approximate location of the starter and housing unit bolts are here. (Pic wasn't taken at the right angle to actually show you all of the bolts, but they're pretty obvious.) Next comes the flywheel nut. This is 19mm, or a 3/4" socket fits, also. I used an air wrench to bump it off. Putting it back on, I stuck a big screwdriver through the holes on that silver thing so I could apply some torque. Here's a pic of the exposed flywheel. I drew in the places where I put the sealant. I used threadlocker on the nuts and bolts when I put it back together. I'll know tomorrow after it cures whether it helped with the sound or not. Purchased my new Model 40026 today at Lowes (had a coupon, so it cost me $304) I haven't deceided on the extended warranty yet, but I have 30 days to make up my mind. I didn't have the chance to fire it up for the break in, but it will have to be done soon as we are taking it to the Charlotte race in a few weeks. On my way through the posts, I noted the one above. Is this something that I should do or not? does this apply to the 40026 model? just curious... nice little gen..379Views0likes0Comments
