There's no weighting placed on the problems. You guys would laugh - or maybe cringe - if you knew how much JDP charges to use this award in advertising... (I work in auto advertising)Re: GMC wins Kelly Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own AwardThe award doesn't pretend to project "real world" maintenance costs. From the site, their 5-year "cost to own" calculations are based on: - financing costs - insurance costs - state fees - anticipated costs of fuel x mpg - scheduled maintenance and repairs (based on the owner's manual) - Kelley Blue Book's "fair purchase price" (not MSRP, but what they feel you should pay) - projected depreciation In a competitive truck segment, it's a nice win.Re: Re-gear or swap axles???^^^ What he said. I had a mobile guy come to my house and swap front/rear for $1,100 - parts and labor - in SoCal.Re: 5th wheel with a slightly lifted 4x4?I've got 35's and a 3-inch Carli lift (most of the lift is in the front, rear went up about an inch). Every toy hauler that I looked at would fit, though you may have to monkey with the hitch height and pinbox a bit. My Cyclone 3950 has adjustable shackles, I raised them to their highest point just so I could get a bit more bed clearance. I've got about 6 inches of bed clearance now, so no worries about towing over rough terrain.Re: Anyone modify their air bag pump for other use?Compressor and tank for airbags, exhaust brake and on-board air. OBA is for when you're out and about and need to air-up a tire, or whatever else you need air for...it's not really a substitute for a full-size compressor.Re: Dodge 2006 5.9L Issues GASA765 wrote: Are the injectors and turbo's a big problem with the 5.9's? Turbos aren't an issue with these trucks. Injectors are hit and miss, guys running 5 micron (or better) fuel filters seems to have fewer problems. Baldwin makes a 5 micron drop-in filter. I had one injector go out under warranty. And a second replaced under warranty when its performance came up a bit short on the dealer's diagnostic computer. Have not had any issues since switching to a better fuel filter (knock on wood).Re: Truck Tonnage? To show how these ratings are really meaningless today... Toyota sold a 1-ton pickup back in the day. It had a 2,655 lb payload capacity. Re: Truck Tonnage? It's the same as Grande, Venti and Tall. Just an escalation of their relative capacities. Something to note: 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks generally share most mechanicals/underpinnings, and tend to be similar vehicles with varying capacities. 1/2-ton trucks are built much less robustly, and don't really share any mechanicals/underpinnings with 3/4 or 1-ton trucks.Re: Ecoboost engine question^^^ to your point, I love the fact that we have seemingly more choices than ever when it comes to equipping these trucks.Re: Ecoboost engine questionReal HD trucks ("18 wheelers") use girly 6-cylinder engines LOL
