It has been absorbed, studied, and will be referenced in the future. We knew our old camper inside and out. Learning this one is a priority now.Re: Plugged in but draining battery. In the dark! Help!Again THANK YOU! Spouse works nights (he's a Coke dealer. As in Coca-Cola). You know I'm being extra patient in not banging around, making noise, and trying to wake him so we can solve this mystery. We knew buying used would require a learning curve and some upgrades. Just knowing where to start is a huge help. Thank you! He dropped and ran yesterday. Today is Salem 101.Re: Plugged in but draining battery. In the dark! Help! Thanks all! We have literally had it in our possession for less than 24 hours so all input is appreciated! Now that it's daylight and not storming we will start poking around and see what's up.Re: Plugged in but draining battery. In the dark! Help! Thanks for the reply! I'm sure either is an option! It's a dark and stormy night here so I have time to read up and we will look at it in the morning. It was sold As Is of course so I'm trying not to freak out. I'm hoping its operator error. Husband literally towed it home, plugged it in, and went to work. No time to really check it out.Plugged in but draining battery. In the dark! Help!New to us 2006 Salem LE 30BHBS Brought it home. Plugged it in. Everything works! Left it all lit up pretty to admire it. 9 hours later. No lights. Microwave is on but lights only work when plugged into a tow vehicle (aka fresh battery). It's plugged in to shore power so why no lights? Previous RV is a 1995 Fifth Wheel. We never even installed a battery so what we know about this is almost nil. Feel free to mock us (we are!) but ummm ... Is there some obvious thing we are supposed to know or do that tells the camper to use the nice electric we pay for instead of sucking the batteries dry? We are in the dark here. Literally!Reviews on OLDER/USED RVs?Short of asking specific questions is there any site that allows users to review their OLDER campers/trailers/RVs? We cannot be the only family looking strictly to buy used and it's so difficult to find reviews and real life experiences of how certain models hold up. I understand that storage, use, etc. all play a part but there must be some way to weed out the lemons from the gems? For example: We have a 1995 Fleetwood Wilderness 5th Wheel and I would highly recommend this model to anyone. It's built like a tank. Seriously. We stuff so many kids in that thing it's like a clown car, drag it back and forth to the lake, and it just keeps chugging along. (Knock wood!) Spouse wants to upgrade (to us this would mean early 2000's model since we are cash buyers and only use it less than 12x year to accompany our boat to the lake). I'm like "only if I can find reviews of c. 2003 trailers and how they hold up TODAY. :DRe: School and campingFor a very special vacation (free trip to Disney and seeing long lost family)? Yes. As a matter of course? Not so much. We are off June-August and there are many weekends. That works for us but you need to find what works for your family.Re: Full On Panic Stop at 18,000 Pounds & 6% Grade I hammered the brakes, and I mean they were howling. At the last second, when it became clear I wasn't going to stop in time, I steered onto the shoulder. I came to a stop even with the b-pillar of her Saturn, and looked down into the back seat at her daughter sleeping in a child seat. God Bless You.Re: Trailer Is WinterizedMaybe Ohio? It's so cold here we are closing our pools and pulling out parkas to attend kids sporting events.Re: Buying first camper. Few simple questions...Congrats! Answering what I can Like State parks. Love Corps of Engineers (COE) park. Not a fan of small lots. We rarely have full hookup. Electric only using tanks works for us. We are blessed with our FW (gratitude) but I do wish for a separate bunk area for kids. A dedicated sleeping area with comfort and real mattress is a must for adults as well.
