All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Recommendation for Tow Bar SetupsSpur, We just recently purchased a 2019 GC Overland. Since I already have a tow bar and a brake box, all I had to do was purchase the base plate and light wiring for the Jeep. The tow bar I use is the Demco Excali-bar 3 and Demco baseplate. For braking I have been using the RVi-3. I chose these compnents because I also tow a 2008 Chevy Silverado pick-up. I have been more than pleased with all of these components, and have installed them all, including the parts for the Jeep myself. If you have tools and are somewhat handy, the job is not too bad. For tail light wiring, I purchased kits that allowed me to plug into the systems on the truck and the Jeep without having to splice into any of the factory wires. If you have any specific questions, let me know...Re: Yes!! I found a way to RV during this awful Covid isolation!I took my motorhome out yesterday for a 30 mile test drive after installing a new tow bar and brake box for my truck... Something about driving around in an RV to get the endorphins flowing. My take it out again to today just to make sure things are still working as they should...!!Re: Tow dolly empty - 1500 milesBack in 2009 when I purchased our MH and dolly, I empty towed a KarKaddy SS from just outside of Detroit, MI to Raleigh, NC. I had no issues. Still use the same tow dolly todayRe: 2008/09 Winnebago / Itasca 35J (bunkhouse) questionsI downloaded all of the information for my coach and burned it to a CD. I keep a copy in the MH in case I need while on the road. We all know that when something breaks it's not gonna happen in the driveway or within site of the selling dealer. This type of information that is open and freely available is why I bought the Winnie.Re: 2008/09 Winnebago / Itasca 35J (bunkhouse) questionsHey Triumph, Since you are a DIY guy, Winnie publishes all of their wiring, plumbing, and electrical diagram right on their website for all of their models... It may be worth a visit to to check out the drawings. Winnie DrawingsRe: 6 Gallon Water Heater in 36' WinnieWe have a 37' Winnie and our travel party usually consists of me, my wife, our daughter and one of her friends who she brings along. We have camped in this rig for almost 5 years and have never had an issue. The 6 gallon w/h recovers really fast. You should be fine.Re: Winnebago SightseerThis won't help you with the Workhorse part of the rig, but go to the Winnebago website, click on "resources" and download all of the specs, drawings and wiring diagrams for your rig. I burned all of mine to a CD and keep a copy in the MoHo in the event I need to offer them up to a service facility while I'm out on the road....Re: Looking for inexpensive upgrade for bunk mattresses....Mike, Our last RV was a bunk 5'er and like your's, the bunk mattresses were junk. We went to the Original Mattress Factory over on Glenwood Ave and had them make me one to my measurements. It was basically a better and thicker foam mattress covered in the same fabric that home mattresses are covered with. We took the two that came with the trailer and stacked them. I know that wouldn't work for your situation since you have two different size bunks...Re: Polishing wheels on Ford ChassisI have a 2009 Winnie on a F-53 chassis... I too have 22.5" aluminum rims... The two front rims and the two outer duals are aluminum and the two inner duals are painted steel. They are made by Alcoa for Ford... The "hubcaps" have the Alcoa logo, and the rims have the Ford logo and some part numbers laser etched along the edges.Re: assembling a kar kaddy ssCampman, I have a the Kar Kaddy SS, but got mine from the dealer and it was already assembled. However, before I bought it I went to the Demco website and downloaded all of the literature related to the dolly. You can go here to download the operator's manual where it details how to assemble the unit. That way you can read up to see it this is something you want to tackle.
