I drove it all over the National Parks of the west for 4 years with a 9 1/2 Coachman truck camper on it. Never had any problems anywhere driving through the mountains or on the flat land. It was the same engine they put in school buses. The body was going with rust is the only reason I got rid of it. Oh, yeh. It got 10.6 mpg with or without a load, in the mountains or not. And top speed was 78 mph. I added a 32-gal aux tank and could go almost 400 miles with 39 usable gals of gas. Now I get the same mileage with my Duramax pulling 14,000 lb of toyhauler, with a much better top speed available.Re: conceal carry permit SDhttps://sdsos.gov/general-services/concealed-pistol-permits/cc-default.aspxRe: stay pluged in or notBought trailer new in Oct 2013. Installed 1 24 series for generator starting and 2 series 29 batteries for house use. The trailer has been plugged in everyday since new unless camping without power ( probably 12 to 20 days per year). I check water in batteries once a year. All 3 still going strong. With todays technology, overcharged batteries should not be an issue.Re: Mount brake controller with velcro?I did that, worked for 2 years before it fell off on a hot day while parked.Re: Walmart overnight and running the generatorWe use Walmart as a last resort. Never had an issue as long as we check in at customer service. They give you any rules they have locally. Usally there will be semi's there running all night, so our generator is not a problem.Re: Truck Mod Question, re: CargoGlideI have had a bedslide since 2007 in 2 different trucks. I build a 6" deep deck with 2 drawers that go the full lenght of the bed (6'6"). The top is used for normal truck storage, i.e.-chairs, grill, totes, dog crates, etc. With the tailgate locked, the drawers are secured for firearms (hunting), optics, fishing gear etc.Re: What's with Bio diesel?Get on any diesel forum and ask.. Bio is a solvent that is better than straight diesel due to its keeps the fuel system clean and adds lube quality to the fuel. Up to 20% bio works in any newer vehicle. Most stations that sell it advertise 5 to 15%. Some midwest states mandate bio blend in all diesel sold in the state. Been around for years now, no issue in a modern diesel. It can reduce mileage a small amount, nothing significant.Re: Which shocks?2015 GMC 3500SRW. Towing 12,000. Went with 4600's at Bilstein's recommendation. Major improvement. Per them, 5100's are geared toward off road type use on stock to raised vehicles.Re: Teddy Roosevelt N.P.Have stayed at both the North and South units often while visiting family in the area. Prefer the North, less crowded. No hook ups, cell service, or TV unless you have sat dish. There are water and dump stations, not always open. Gets hot in summer and early fall. North unit has Bison, longhorn cattle (last herd around), big horn sheep, pronghorn, deer, coyote, turkeys, etc. South has wild horses and lots of prairie dog villages also.
