Love having a rear living setup because when you back into a site, thats where the view is-- not on the side or front!Re: Surge Protector MarkTwain wrote: Progressive Industries EMS 50 ap X2-- Progressive is the BEST! 30 A or 50 A depending on your rig!Re: insurance companies and cost LoudRam wrote: Check with your auto insurance company. We have our RV insurance bundled with our auto insurance. We're using Geico. As for price, like everyone already said, to many factors to even give a price. X2-- Geico is the best --period.. and less than 150 a year!Re: Time to Buy New Tires trail-explorer wrote: Goodyear Endurance. X2-- Buy GOODYEAR ENDURANCE and not have to worry about China bomb blowouts ruining your trip and RV!Re: battery issues on new TT yillb wrote: Probably a silly question, but if the battery disconnect is off, there should be no power at all coming from the battery, why aren't you disconnecting it? probably does not have a battery disconnect swtch! Many TT's do not, including my Keystone Bullet...Re: battery issues on new TT coachsburke wrote: Good call. I also need to figure out how to disconnect the antenna amplifier, as it is never going to be used Just push the button on the antenna ceiling plate for the amplifier so the green light is off!Re: Mapping programs and Garmin RV770 Ralph Cramden wrote: Lantley wrote: You guys are selling the RV760 a bit short. I have had one for a few years now and have not had an major issues. I particularly like the integrated BC-20 wireless camera. The GPS is only as smart as the operator, shortest distance setting includes dirt roads for this reason I never use shortest distance setting. As always never trust any GPS 100%. Always verify with a 2nd source. I'm not selling anything short...it's a piece of bug infested garbage at least where the database is concerned. The people I have met face to face at campgrounds who have purchased one, which is at least half a dozen or so, had the same opinion of it. Maybe you have the only one in existence that actually operates as Garmin's claims. The GPS is only as smart as Garmin's database which is flawed in a lot of cases, and despite being notified of the flaws through Garmin's own reporting system they created they do not make the reported corrections. At least they haven't over the last 5 years on the 5 inaccuracies I have reported, some of them multiple times. X2 on what Ralph says. The 760 virtually ALWAYS gives a disclaimer it does not know the RV capabilities of any road rather than interstate hwys. It has directed me on very small farm roads that are not big enough for RV's and chosen them only because shorter. The 760 does not have a preferance setting for major hwys over shortest route like most other GPS's do. Of course I know to have a second source. In my case i have found Google maps on my phone picks the better hwys than the RV760 does so when they disagree, I go with Google, not Garmin now!Re: Mapping programs and Garmin RV770 Ralph Cramden wrote: Get Google maps on your phone, and carry a good and up to date paper map. Garmin's database is far from perfect and even when a discrepancy is reported to them multiple times they fail to update/correct it. Don't be surprised if it directs you to campgrounds that are miles from where it tells you, to a bridge washed out in 2011 that will never be rebuilt, or to a locked gate on a one lane road requiring backing up 3/4 of a mile to turn around which is the maintenance road to an ACOE dam, yet Garmin says it is the campground entrance that is in actuality 10 miles away. The Garmin RV760 LMT that I just had to have when it was first released back in 2012 or 2013 was the biggest waste of $400 I ever spent. Also the fact you get 20 miles from the Interstate and its going to tell you "RV Accessibility unknown" in a lot of cases. The RV height and size feature works great if you never leave the main highway LOL. X2-- I have the same Garmin RV760 and a total waste of money. nice big screen but no brain! Has taken us down dirt farm roads and cow paths because shortest distance. Doesn't matter what you programmed as far as RV size. And virtually every road off Interstates are "RV accessibility unknown" Was very disappointed Garmin would issue a ripoff GPS! Would not buy Garmin again!Re: What is the max length travel trailer you think is practical Lynnmor wrote: When lengths are quoted here, some may be just the length of the box, or the overall length and maybe they are quoting the number used for the model. Personally I want nothing over 30' overall, and a bit shorter would be my preference for traveling to all varieties of camping spots. Dragging around more than what is necessary just adds to the stress. Nearly everyday questions come up on this forum about the ability to tow or use certain roads and certain campgrounds with a large trailer. X2-- We have a 30 ft Bullet TT with an 11 ft single slideout that fits virtually every campground . Over 32 ft can get you restricted on many State and National ParksRe: Yea, "cheap gas" Reisender wrote: temccarthy1 wrote: Reisender wrote: temccarthy1 wrote: After spending a month in Canada this fall pulling my TT for 2000 miles and getting 9.5 MPG,I will never complain about prices of gas in NJ again since I averaged 1.29-1.35 per liter of regular gas in Canada which amounts to about $5 a US gallon! I hit new records in my Expedition for cost of a fill up-- $120- $127 each fill up! Appreciate the fact that our gas prices in the US average HALF of Canada's per gallon! Nope. Canada has its own currency. You converted litres to gallons but forgot to do the currency conversion. 1.29 per litre is 3.68 USD per US gallon. In our hometown gas is 1.22 or about 3.48 USD per US gallon. In our Old hometown (in ALberta) its around 99 cents per litre. or about 2.82 USD per US gallon. Cheers My point is I feel sorry for Canadians paying the equivalent of DOUBLE for their gas compared to average price in the US! a Canadian citizen with Canadian wages doesn't benefit from the 25% reduced value of Canadian $ compared to US $. the same goes for Europe. We complain about gas prices but have some of the lowest prices in the World1 Nope. Doesn't work like that. Canadians get paid in Canadian dollars. Its not all referenced to the American dollar. Doesn't make sense. Different society and culture and political and social support system. Not going to get into which one is better or worse as this is not the forum for that but comparing prices between countries with different currencies is like comparing apples and oranges. Makes no sense. OK, forget exchange rates...So what does it cost you Canadian to fill your tank?.. lets say 25 gal or 96.875 L? It will cost me about $55 to fill mine with regular at current 2.19 a gal. I am pretty sure it will cost you a lot more! And that was my point in the first place! We have it good on gas in the US compared to Canada or especially Europe!
