Just another quick suggestion. Once you finally figure out the correct hookup, take a picture of it. We actually printed one out and keep it in the trailer. "Ask the vet about amputation but he said it's a no go." Did the vet tell you why? Many giant breed dogs do just fine on three legs. I would recommend that you check out Tripawds.com for tons of information on canine amputation. While a lot of the dogs there have become Tripawds because of a cancer diagnosis, birth defects and accidents are also some of the reasons for amputation. The dinette in our Cougar was installed over the top of the carpet in the slide. We just unscrewed the fasteners and out she went! We also replaced the uncomfortable sofa bed that had the inflatable mattress with a much lighter weight one that we found on Wayfair.
