I’ve called parks along the route and feel pretty confident in availability. It’s an adventure. Again thanks for the input.Route NW Chicago to Whitefish MTWe are heading to Whitefish MT in 2 weeks coming from Crystal Lake IL., towing our small travel trailer. We plan on taking 4 days, 3 nights. I’m looking for a good route to head north from I94 to Whitefish. Google maps is leaving I94 at Glendive MT to HWY 2 and across. I’m wanting to make sure we can find a place to camp for our last night, about 300 miles out. Any suggested routes? Places to spend the night?Re: Reliance brake controller E2 codeThanks for the reply and I’m surprised that rain wasn’t the problem. There aren’t many places to inspect the wiring as this is an all new set up since June of this year. With only one season of camping this isn’t saying much for the set up.Reliance brake controller E2 codeWhile towing in the rain, and while braking I noticed my trailer brakes cutting in and out. I eventually noticed a E2 code on the controller. Once home, I looked up the code and it’s for a short. Now it’s dry out, I hooked up the trailer and no code. I’ve towed in the rain other times and not had any issues, this was the first. Is this a sign of water getting into the 7 pin connector or what should I be looking at?Re: House battery charging options enblethen wrote: What is make and model of refer? Ever Chill 10.7 cu.ft. WD-282fwdc b 6 I’ve disconnected the power and running the frig and fan at 50% using the battery as my power source. I will see how long the battery lasts. I won’t let it go down past 50%. Any thoughts on how long it will last?Re: House battery charging optionsThanks all. The frig is all 12 volt, no propane or 120 volt. All I want to do is keep the battery charged for the frig, fan and some led lights over night. Solar sounds promising but what if it’s cloudy for a few of the days that we are dry camping? I’m at home now so I will disconnect the trailer from shore power, turn on the fan and time it till the battery goes down to 1/2. Good idea, thanksHouse battery charging optionsWe are 4 months into our new travel trailer and having never owned one before I have some questions about battery charging. I was wondering if while camped, would plugging back into my running tow vehicle charge the battery? We don’t plan on any extended boondocking but for one or two times a year for maybe 5 days maximum. No ac, tv or microwave required. However our refrigerator is 12 volt and we have a max air fan that would be running all night possibly. Just looking at our options. Generator, solar or just run the car. Trailer has 1 12v. battery, and most likely low quality.Re: Running 1 ac unit on 20 amp shore power,Thanks everybody. The plan is to use the ac only will parked in the driveway when getting ready to go or while unpacking, and only if it’s really hot out. I’ve run the generator in the past but if l’d rather use the house electric if possible. Again thanks for the responses, this forum is greatRe: Running 1 ac unit on 20 amp shore power, valhalla360 wrote: Your average roof air/con will pull 10-12amps continuous (much more for a second on startup). As long as the breaker doesn't trip and you keep the other loads negligible, it should be fine if the connections are all clean and good condition. Use the biggest shortest extension cord you can to minimize voltage drop. ThanksRe: Running 1 ac unit on 20 amp shore power, pianotuna wrote: Have a way to monitor voltage. My comfort zone is 107 and above. Forgot to mention, I have a Progressive Industries EMS and it shows the voltage draw and I will monitor it. It also shuts down at 104 and below aotomatically.
