The trip took 25 days, 5200 miles on the fifth wheel and 7245 miles on the truck. Hope this helps a bit. As a side note, we were in GNP for only 3 days, not nearly enough time in my opinion. We are headed back to GNP in June for 10 days hiking!Re: Highway 2 across MontanaThanks everyone for the input, sounds like it's the way to go to see something different. It should take about the same amount of time as 90, the towns will slow us down a bit but we don't have that big dip to the south that 90 has. Fuel won't be an issue, we carry about 130 gallons when topped off. Thanks again!Highway 2 across Montana2nd trip in 2 years to GNP for a family vacation from Mi. We took 90 out and back last year, but we're thinking 94 out through ND and then up to 2 via 85 north out of Belfield. Any problems with this route? Thanks a bunch.Re: Glacier/Grand Teton/Yellowstone NPs - what to do?I also am from Michigan and will be visiting these same parks in July, gonna follow this closely.Re: Smoke from Tow VehicleI own a Krown Rust Control shop in Michigan, I am certain that it was not residual oil from 9 months ago. The oil normally burns off is 8-9 miles. Plastic bag caught on the exhaust maybe?Re: Rust Protection"Krown Rust Control" has a spray shop in the thumb of Michigan just north of Port Huron. I've had my stuff treated there since 04. My 06 D-Max is 100% rust free.Re: GM's Next HD Duramax chevor wrote: Almost 600,000 miles here. 600K out of a "light duty" engine, hmmm :ERe: GM's ignition recall issue explained. Terryallan wrote: Bottom line. The ignitions failed. GM knew it, people died. They didn't warn anyone, or have a recall, They didn't care. Ford didn't care either over the Explorer rollover debacle. I remember a spokesperson saying it was cheaper to pay the lawsuits than fix the problem. Same idiotic mentality as GM. Over 200 deaths in the rollover accidents.Re: Ford Superduty V10 towing trip AlBeGone wrote: Hello everyone. As the subject says, I was on a 1800 mile trip this summer and I hand calculated the mileage I was doing towing my 10K pound fiver @ 65 mph avg. I thought some of you might be interested in comparing notes. No BS in these numbers. Towing in hilly terrain, I averaged 7.53mpg Towing on fairly flat terrain, I averaged 8.36mpg Empty it does: 11.4 mpg city. 14.7 mpg hwy. 12.4 mpg combined. I was with two camping buddies, one with a 2005 GM 2500 w/Vortec 8.1L, the other with a 2006 RAM 2500 w/Cummins 5.9L. Guess who was the overall gas consumption winner... So here it is. Besides being thirsty, I love the truck. It's a smooth quiet towing beast. Ouch!Re: Dodge vs Ford vs GM diesel 3/4 ton family transamz9 wrote: 66chevelle wrote: catfishmontana wrote: Most women like the GM. you are 100% correct. I can't get my wife out of my Dura Max. She wouldn't drive the Dodge after the "Death Wobble" incident. The death wobble is cause from lack of proper maintenance. Ford and GM trucks get it too.;) No sir, I don't buy that for one minute. The Dodge only had 28k on it. Traded it off 2 days after.
