You may have followed my posts previously as I sought out water intrusion found sealed. And now have replaced ceiling etc. Now ready to remove roof top a.c. and replace seal with a much higher quality recommended by Lance. While I have a.c. off, I plan to apply a roof coating on the aluminum roof. My question is. Will the adhesive on the new a.c. gasket seal to the roof coating. Or should I leave United where the a.c. gasket will cover. ❚ Did you see the "Announcement : ★★READ BEFORE POSTING HERE★★" at the top? Moved from FORUM POSTING HELP AND SUPPORT overnight parking help South Lyon MIDear forum friends. We have family in South Lyon MI, living in a cul-de-sac. With our Lance 835 on our 96 chevy we have no problem parking and or sleeping in their driveway. However, as we age, we have discussed going to a short travel trailer (21-23ft range)... several reasons one is easier to hook up TT than load TC, at least for me it is - having done both innumerable times; secondly is sleeping, as we age it gets harder and harder to climb up into overcab bed on TC. TC is so convenient in so many ways ... but in some ways convenience is countered by other factors. That said, a major problem of going to TT is inconvenience when just showing up at home of family or friend. For our family in downtown Pittsburgh for example there is still a superwalmart just 5 miles away that allows us to unhook our TT and leave it there (at own risk - but we did that 4 or 5 years ago for 2 nights with no issue whatsoever. However, in the South Lyon area of MI the Superwalmarts do not allow overnight RVing let alone disconnecting TT. And there are no Pilot Flying Js within reasonable distance (at least 45 min out) and the nearest Cracker Barrel is 20 min or so - and I don't know if Cracker Barrel would permit "dumping" the TT so that we could drive to visit family. ... There is a General RV Dealership within 15 minutes I may call them to see if they have overnight parking dry camping like some of the Camping Worlds. So, does anyone know this area and have any other options. My only other thought is that as a clergy of the UMC I may check with UMCs in that area to see if they would be allowed and willing to let us dump a TT in their parking lot. Any other ideas would be appreciated. For now, we have the Lance TC to fall back on, but other options could open up options ... One thing we did look at was a RoadTrek Popular 190 Class B .. which solves both the connecting up problems - just get in and go; and the parking sleeping - it is just a van in disguise! However, the issue with the RoadTrek is this- where do you carry any clothing and other gear and food - there is like no storage in them.Re: Truck camper on a flat bed805gregg I've thought about a good looking service bed. I am finding that the biggest issue is the height of the sidewalls vary a lot. I am supposing you have to find one with that has a side wall height near that of the normal bed.Truck camper on a flat bedWhat are pros / cons of considering a nice flat bed dually; the flat beds that have the tool boxes mounted underneath the bed look like they could be very user friendly.Re: chevy 3500 6.0 vortec and truck camperWhat are pros / cons of considering a nice flat bed dually; the flat beds that have the tool boxes mounted underneath the bed look like they could be very user friendly.Re: chevy 3500 6.0 vortec and truck camperI remember my Dad's warning to me when I was hauling wood in my 1972 Ford 1 Ton van with 4.10 gear. Son, he'd say, be careful how much you load in that thing. A truck can pull a lot more than it can carry. That is at the bottom of my inquisitiveness in posting this topic.Re: chevy 3500 6.0 vortec and truck camperThanks for that info.Re: chevy 3500 6.0 vortec and truck camperThat said, is there a "best year" for the 6.0L vortec? It seems to me it would pay to go new enough to get the 6 spd trans.Re: chevy 3500 6.0 vortec and truck camperThanks. I currently have a 96 with the 5.7 vortec and numerous bolt on performance modifications and it does fine with our Lance 835. Absolutely smooth sailing. But, the 96 is a 2 door model extended cab and as we get older it gets to be a pain and a newer truck with rear doors (whether xcab or crew) would be easier on our backs for making use of the rear seat for carrying those things we like to have in the cab of the truck, to say nothing of being able to take our grand kids with us!chevy 3500 6.0 vortec and truck camperIs anyone using a chevy or gmc SRW or DRW with the 6.0L with any of the single or double slide truck campers that are out there. The Lance and Palomino double slides push 3700 lbs. even over 4000 considering the Lance 1172. Bottom line are these dually only diesel only once you get to 3700 and over?
