When my dealer set mine up I had issues only to find out the manufacture had packaged the lighter bars when I ordered the heavier bars. Dealer found out and had to go back to check records on trailers purchased to contact owners to check which bars they had so they could change out to the proper bars. Get a breaker bar and socket, you will be so much happier than the manufacture supplied bar.Re: Blue Ox Sway Pro, how it functions against swayI battled with the Blue Ox for a year. I went as far as upgrading from a F150 max tow to a F250 with no improvement. In the end after many calls, email etc with BO I ended back at my dealer and switched to an Equalizer. RV Tech told me that on some toy haulers and longer trailers they have had issues with sway control. Can't really predict when or on what trailer it will happen. Some cases it works really well, others it may not. Not every hammer works for the same job.Re: City Water Filling Fresh Water TankFollow up on my city tank being filled.... I purchased a rebuild kit for my pump and replaced the parts and that did not fix my city tank being filled. Turns out my inlet valve is the issue. I have not taken it out, but I suspect that it did not get winterized last fall and it may have froze and split. I had an issue with this area the last year with some elbows that come out of the valve. This year I removed the hoses, but I wonder if water was still in the valve. Since I don't dump my antifreeze into my fresh water tank and pump it from the tank no antifreeze is getting into the valve. I now will remove the 3 way valve and put in a fill valve for fresh water and a city valve for city hook up. Thus eliminating the 3 way valve all together. Before running out and purchase a rebuild kit for the pump, make sure you have checked all other possibilities. Enjoy your summer and don't sweat the small stuff.Re: City Water Filling Fresh Water TankThanks for the advice, I will try that tonight when I get the camper home. I have not had a chance to look at it yet.Re: Do all lightweight large TT's tow terribly, or just ours?I had a 28 foot passport for 9 years. When I towed with my 07 F150, 2 wheel drive, 5.4 Crew cab I had to run the nose of the trailer slightly lower. If I left it level it would feel loose on the highway, specially around big trucks. At the time I had an WD hitch with 2 friction sway controllers. with my experience I would suggest running slightly nose down and use the WD to level the vehicle.Re: City Water Filling Fresh Water TankThanks I will look into the pump, I would have never thought of that. This will only be the second year with this camper. I will be digging into it this up coming weekend to see what I have.City Water Filling Fresh Water TankI got my camper out of storage today and de-winterized it. When I hook the water hose to the inlet valve and turn the valve to the city side it will allow water to by-pass and go into my fresh water tank. When I turned off the water and turned on the pump the pump would build pressure and hold like it suppose to. If I left the city water valve turned to allow the city water in, the pump would cycle on and off. Is this a bad inlet valve? Seems like it is not closing off properly when turned to the city water side. Or is this a check valve issue? I am not sure where the check valve is, or should I install one? I was going to start with a new valve and hoped that fixed it, but when reading about this issue the check valve issue came up. Maybe I am over thinking this and it's just a valve. Open to any insight or anyone that has had this issue. Can't leave the water on this way, the fresh water tank will fill. Thanks for your help ahead of time.Re: Best weight distributing hitch with a sway control camperforlife wrote: dthfsa wrote: Walaby wrote: dthfsa wrote: Blue Ox is okay as long as you have a light trailer and under 28' long. I fought one for a year only to have the dealer replace it with an Equalizer. That's a new one... My TT is 37 footer, and GVW of nearly 10K and Blue Ox works great. I did lots of research and looking at comments by users. There are few people who have not been happy with the Blue Ox, but the few that did not like them seemed to have longer trailers. The tech told me they have had issues with toy haulers and also some of the longer trailers, he suggested not to put a Blue Ox on any trailer over 28 feet long. I don't necessary agree with that, I think it has to do with your particular truck and trailer and every one will be different depending on weights, loading etc. There are many users who love them and have no issues. I was just unlucky to have a setup that did not work. I am very happy that my dealer changed out my set up at no cost to me and was willing to work with me a year later on my set up. Don't understand that at all. I am pulling 35' with 1500lb tongue weight with a Blue Ox Sway Pro and it is the best towing combo I have ever owned. Not sure what you don't understand. I stated it was not the right combo for my trailer. I had issues. I loved the concept of it but it did not work for me. The technician that was working on correcting my set up stated to me that they have had issues in the past with Toy Haulers and some longer trailers like mine and the Blue Ox did not preform as stated. Not every hammer is designed for finish nailing. I loved how quiet it was compared to the equalizer. I can say that the equalizer is 100 times more stable going down the road than the Blue Ox with my truck and trailer combo was. Blue ox does look like the old style conventional WD hitch, but the design of the bars and head also make it act as a sway control device. It works very well, however in my case with any type of side force the trailer would begin to push over and then suddenly it would snap back. Like the bars would build up this tension and then release it. I tried to move weight from front to back, heavy, light nothing really helped. After going through South Dakota and back again last year I had had enough and ended up going to an Equalizer. Before the Laredo I pulled a 28' Passport, a light camper and used a conventional chain and saddle set up with a friction brake style sway control arm for 9 years and had no problems. My advice is to research on multiple platforms, ask advice on forums like this. This site has helped me so many times over the years, lots of good people with lots of real world experiences. Not everyone will agree on topics, but if you read enough responses you will be able to draw your own conclusions. Merry X-Mas to all.Re: Best weight distributing hitch with a sway control Walaby wrote: dthfsa wrote: Blue Ox is okay as long as you have a light trailer and under 28' long.
