Kids and dog track the mowed grass in, a constant battle. Plus when its wet with dew in the morning my sneakers end up soggy.Re: ONAN 5500 Grand Marquis fuel pump & filterYou can get the OEM Onan one from PPl motorhomes for $82. I bought the Airex from Amazon. Mine failed after 40 days, in the same way as yours is currently failed, overheats after a few hours and then if it cools it works again. Tried to use the warranty, well their is no warranty, because the warranty has to be honored by the seller and Amazon won't take it back after 30 days. They also have the fuel filter. https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-appliances/generator/permanent-generators/permanent-generator-replacement-parts/cummins-onan-fuel-pump-a047n929_49-7991?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2YqipvH14wIVmpOzCh3YuwywEAQYBCABEgIoKPD_BwE https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-appliances/generator/permanent-generators/permanent-generator-replacement-parts/onan-fuel-filter-149-2341-01_68657Re: Onan hot hot hotI think I am going to pull the trigger and buy this: 026-00495 SIDE AIR DISCHARGE https://sleequipment.com/onan-genuine-part-026-00495-mounting-kit-onan.html Onan also has one that pushes the hot air towards the back of the generator.Re: Onan hot hot hot CoachFiver wrote: But we are still either vapor locking or control board is getting too hot and shutting off fuel flow. What I did to ensure it wasn't the control board. I ran a hot wire from positive to the fuel pump directly. The control board no longer had any power to start or stop the fuel pump. I had the same failure still so I know its not the control board. When doing this test you have to have a fuse inline, and I put it outside the gen box so I could grab the fuse and pull it quickly to kill the pump. You must be judicious to quickly kill the pump when the generator dies or when you turn it off. Personally the fuel pump seems to be in a very bad location, it gets no airflow and remains really freaking hot. I might add a 12v muffin fan to get some air to it.Re: Furrion rv air conditioner, anyone have one yet? Or Attwood?I love the noise of my AC. It helps me sleep in a truck stop next to rumbling diesels. ;)Re: Renting out your RV nightmares. One other thing. Take a few pics of the tank, and then put this in google search: rv holding tank -portable The click on images. Maybe you will get lucky.Re: Onan hot hot hot shastagary wrote: from the installation manual Hot Air Recirculation Test A representative installation of the genset must be tested to determine that the genset will not overheat due to recirculation of hot air back into the genset. 8.4 Test Requirement The rise in inlet air temperature over ambient air temperature must not exceed 15°F (8°C). A rise in inlet air temperature indicates hot air recirculation. If the rise exceeds the requirement, steps must be taken to reduce recirculation to an acceptable level. I am wondering if my multi probe BBQ thermometer is enough for this job, I'm going to try it and see as soon as the rain (cooler weather) moves away. I think the problem is recirculation on my unit with the same exact issue as the original posters.Re: Renting out your RV nightmares.I've heard of folks having good luck with eternabond for fixing tanks, and that might allow you to get it on the road (and rented or used) while you wait for the replacement tank to be made. Maybe a mobile RV service guy would be more interested in working for the money. With the tank out for repair it can be measured, and you will find who made it probably imprinted on the tank. I doubt Roadtek made the part, but its possible. Worse case scinaro is a fiberglass duplicate would have to be made, easy peasy for a boat place. BTW, I rent my RV as well, try to ignore the 'nay sayers'. At least we won't have to compete with them.Re: Onan hot hot hotMine (5.5k hgjab) is the same way. It gets hot as hell under the cover. Onan has a procedure in the installation manual to test that the hot exhausted air isn't being re-ingested for cooling. However I personally don't have the tools for that.
