Maps look like 95 south to New York, then 287 over tap pan zee bridge . Then 78 into Pennsylvania, 81 to Knoxville tn and then i40 to Nashville. Is this a good route? How is traveling on 81 south versus i95? How bad are the hills? I’m towing a montana fifthwheel with a 6.2 f350 gasser with 4.30 gears. Any input is appreciated. Just returned from a 4400 mile round trip from SE Ma. to San Antonio Tx. Departed in the evening at 630 pm. 495 > 90 > 84 > 81 very little traffic made it to Scranton in about 6 hrs. First fuel stop in Danbury Ct. around 170 miles. Exit 8 off 84, Global gas, easy in and out. Second fuel stop just prior to Scranton, exit 8, Liberty Travel Plaza, Mt. Cobb. A couple of sections E & W bound of 84 in NY west of the Hudson are under construction and reduced to one lane for several miles. Several areas of rough road in both NY. and PA. on 84. Other than that pretty smooth going all the way down to Knoxville. You should be fine with the hills. Ran into several 3rd gear / 50 mph climbs with my set up. I preferred manually shifting to keep the revs in the sweet spot. Not a big fan of the 5500 rpm, 2nd gear drops while using cruise. 2016 F250 6.2 3.73 2019 Jayco 25.5 REOK (29’ - 9500 lbs.)Re: Boston Ma. to San Antonio Tx. sayoung wrote: padredw wrote: Camreal wrote: Take 271 south at Mt. Pleasant to hwy 31 to Waco then 84 to 281 and San Antonio. Avoid I-35 traffic, just another plan Excellent suggestion from Camreal. I have another suggestion which will avoid not only Dallas but also Austin which is worse for RV driving than Dallas. So here goes. As above take US 271 at Mt. Pleasant. You have a good new bypass now around that town. BUT at Gilmer take TX 155 through Tyler to Palestine, TX. You will have a loop around Tyler and also at Palestine. @ Palestine take US 79 and follow it all the way down to Rockdale to take US 77 S. At the intersection with TX 21 take 21 through Bastrop to San Marcos where you will pick up I-35 Not everyone will prefer this route since there are many 2 lane highways, but I like to avoid the traffic in Dallas, Waco, and especially Austin. Lots of good places to overnight along this route. I will only mention Tyler State Park and Bastrop--either Bastrop State Park or the LCRV (Lower Colorado River Authority) on Lake Bastrop. At least you have some good choices. At Gilmer stay on 271 as it is mostly 4 lane except a few miles south of Gladewater. 155 is almost all 2lane to Tyler and it merges into 271 on Tyler's North side so your back on the same road. Me , I would stay on 30 to Tx 19 and take to Athens picking up 31. It's 2 lane but straight as an arrow . Looks good. Thanks. How’s the traffic on 35 through the cities? Typical rush hour stuff in the am / pm. Is it bumper to bumper, stop and go?Re: Boston Ma. to San Antonio Tx. padredw wrote: My previous post concerned only the portion of the trip inside Texas. Here is a part of EastCoast original post: EastCoast wrote: Bluegrass Pkwy. down to Nashville to 40 to 30 Many people are not familiar with the Kentucky system of Parkways. I have been using them for years. Some of them are destined to become part of the Interstate Highway System. I have found them to be excellent highways. In this instance you could take the Bluegrass Pkw to Elizabethtown and then take the Western Kentucky Pkw to connect with I-155 to I-55 down to West Memphis, AR and avoid both Nashville and Memphis. That is the route I take all the time to Lexington, KY. Lots of good campgrounds in the Land Between the Lakes Area just off this route. Also the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington. Just some more ideas for consideration. Thanks padredw! I took a closer look at this route using Google maps as well as the RV Parky app. Probably the route I’ll end up taking. Many, many possible places to stop. Another plus, I was surprised to see that it’s only around 50 miles longer than the 81 > 40 > 30 route.Re: Boston Ma. to San Antonio Tx.Thank you for all the help. I really appreciate it!Boston Ma. to San Antonio Tx.In a little more than a week, heading down to Lackland AFB for my son’s BMT graduation. Hoping to get some opinions on the various possible routes. Have a reservation for the week at Travelers World in S.A. and will be making overnight pit stops randomly along the way. Plan is to take 81 to Knoxville, from there not sure. A) 40 to 30 into Dallas and head south on 35. B) 40 to 75 to 59 to 10 through Houston. Google suggested a third alternative route. 81 to 68 (MD.) , Bluegrass Pkwy. down to Nashville to 40 to 30. This maybe a better option for the return trip? Thanks in advance ;)Re: Had to get a new TV dhust wrote: So, it was mandated that we would have to get something else. Our local Ford dealer finally found an F150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine and the max tow package (that was the difficult thing to find) along with the other few requirements we had. So, now she is driving this: The first tow hasn't happened yet, but she is enjoying driving it. Beautiful truck, hope it serves you well! Any chance you can post what trucks ratings are? Axle ratio? GVWR Payload F&RGAWR ThanksRe: What Percent Off of MSRP??Around 36% off MSRP before TTL. Bought from an out of state dealer. $4000 less than the local dealer offered and had the up graded 15K BTU a/c. Well worth the 600 mile round trip!Re: Keystone Bullet Premier RavensFan24 wrote: Yes, that is what I meant. I feel like it was that or I chose the wrong setting on the TV to watch DVD and the first one I stopped on looked terrible like you mentioned, but then when I switched to another source option it worked well. Sorry I don't remember specifically. I just remember being pissed off the first time I tried to watch a DVD in our brand new trailer and having it not work properly. A couple minutes of tweaking stuff and it worked fine. Was glad to not have to take it back to the dealer as I discovered the TV had a big scratch on it and already had to have them replace that item, I definitely didn't want to go back for another TV related issue. Side note: Camping World had the replacement TV delivered to my house about an hour from their dealership by one of their guys. I signed a waiver saying I received it, handed them the old TV and was good to go. I def appreciated that service. Finally got a chance to check things out in more detail. Just as you said..... Matter of choosing the correct input on the TV. :S All is wellRe: Keystone Bullet PremierThanks for the feedback. I'll confirm the TV source selections as well.Re: Keystone Bullet Premier RavensFan24 wrote: eastcoasthd wrote: This followed me home on 8/21. A couple minor issues thus far.... DVD player only plays in B&W with a slight amount of graining. Inspected wiring, nothing obvious. Probably an internal issue? I'm pretty sure our Premier had the same issue when we got it. Try plugging in the cables to another port on the TV. I think that's what fixed it for me. If your referring to the composite (red, white, yellow) I did move them around without any luck. I'll give it another look. TY.
