Looks like the manufacturer might be JD, the same as the original ELM 3000 gens that the professor used to originate this thread. Find it HERE Scroll down page for the RV-ready model. Professor, Can you explain why "grounding is not an issue" when running the gen in the back of a pickup? Is that method theoretically safer than running the gen while it's sitting on the ground? All I can tell you is that several people on here have successfully done that, rewired for full power from one outlet. I haven't done it, but the info is here in the thread if you have the time to read through. Someone else will probably chime in. If you are sure that the ebay seller sent you a different brand than advertised, he should accept a return and refund you. jmhouse, I had a voltage fluctuation issue with my ELM 3000 until I replaced the stock outlets with better quality----no more fluctuation. Smoke from exhaust? Not normal, could be that your unit was turned upside down for awhile in transit and oil flowed to places it shouldn't. Didn't you say it was damaged when you received it? Professor, I have the RV electrical surge protector with GFI shown in this link: http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?deptID=&subOf=98,55&skunum=18337 Should that item protect me and the RV appliances provided I am using it on whatever source of power the RV is connected to, generator or shore power? It doesn't offend me personally, but there have been alot of posts on this forum that were dis-allowed for "advertising" that were alot more subtle and less obvious than yours.
