Think I'll stick to my usual route.Re: Kalamazoo, MI to Gulf Shores, ALThanks and Go Blue!Kalamazoo, MI to Gulf Shores, ALFor many years, I've always headed east to I-69, south to I-65 at Indianapolis and on to Alabama. Google Maps/Waze want to route me west towards Chicago, I-65 south to US41/I63/I-69 (at Evansville), to I-24 to Nashville and I-65 to Ala. Time-wise it's about the same and distance is slightly shorter (not much). Has anyone taken this route? If so, how are the roads, especially 41/63? Taking a new route after 25 years on the old one might be interesting. Driving a class A with toad. Thanks for any input.Re: Update on Michigan State Parks GordonThree wrote: Reservations through June 21 automatically cancelled. You will be refunded for any days 6/21 and earlier.Re: Update on Michigan State Parks GordonThree wrote: Reservations through June 21 automatically cancelled. However, in nice weather, DH Day is our all-time favorite campground. Right on Lake Michigan, beautiful campsites. Close to most of the action--Glen Haven, Coast Guard Station, Glen Arbor, etc.--all a short bike ride away on the brand-new bike path that runs through the park. Starting in January, reservations will be possible, which may or may not be a good thing.Re: Need overnight stay in northern AlabamaWe've spent the night at AL rest areas a number of times. Mostly, the Welcome center or the one about 30 miles north of B'ham. Never had anyone question us. Only problem is lots of trucks with engines running.Re: Lake Huron in SeptemberThanks for all the responses. Looking forward to our trip.Lake Huron in SeptemberWe are planning a trip along the Canadian side of Lake Huron in early September (after our Labor Day), stopping in some of the provincial parks along the way. Will we be able to find sites that will fit our rig (35' motor home with toad) and will we need reservations? Thanks for any input.
