Got all your suggestions and will be very useful. At Ft. Stockton at the moment and we know it's HOT and are aware of the elements. Also, looking at the map and thinking about dropping the trailer either at Marathon, Alpine, or Ft. Davis and go down to Big Bend one day and then do the scenic route around the Davis MTS. the next. What do you think? thanks-road to Big Bend NP?Would like a little advice on the road to Big Bend National Park from the I-10 near Ft. Stockton, TX. We have reservations at the French Quarter RV resort for a couple of days and would like any helpful advice while approaching our destination. Yes, we have maps & GPS, too, but anything more would be greatly appreciated about the road system, traffic, or what to avoid. Thanks- :)Re: traveling thru Dallas eastward...Thanks for all of your suggestions and made it to Vicksburg, Miss. yesterday. Stayed on the I-20 and avoided the rush hour traffic in the afternoon, barely. Texas roads were great until driving through Louisiana at the start but conditions were better halfway through the state. Heading south to New Orleans in a couple of days. thanks again-:)Re: traveling thru Dallas eastward...It looks like the I-20 is favorable. My plan is to go to through between 10am & 2pm. I forgot to ask about tolls. Are there any thru this corridor? Do they take credit cards? When you approach a toll, what does it mean when the sign says: 'no trailers'? Are they referring to the big rigs only? Thanks for your suggestions.traveling thru Dallas eastward...In the next couple of days we'll be traveling through Texas on the I-20 eastward with our travel trailer. Looking at a map, the Dallas/Fort Worth road system looks horrendous. I could use some advice. Should I just stay on the I-20 and just go through it or take an alternate route? I'm aware there's rain in the forecast, too.Re: RV sites in New Orleans area?Hey diazr2- Does the ferry run at night as well? Would safety be an issue? thanks-RV sites in New Orleans area?We will be passing through the New Orleans area in early June with our travel trailer and would like some advice on where to stay for a couple of days. Maybe something within walking distance but that may not be a good idea especially after dark. We checked out some RV sites on-line and the reviews were not great. Any suggestion?
