It's cheap, and works quite well to lube the valve, as well as the mechanism in the toilet itself. MikeRe: Onan generatorMr. Mark, I believe the Southwind is a gasoline rv, as is the 5,500 watt Onan, and the ethanol in the gasoline is not very stable. The Onan tech stated that the gasoline will start deteriorating within 30 days in hot weather, especially if not treated with a stabilizer. Ask any gasoline engine mechanic about his feelings on the ethanol "enriched" gasoline. I have a diesel Onan and it has no problems with the ULSD, either, and my 350 CAT does fine on it also. MikeRe: comments on 2003 allegro bus 40dpHi Airplane Joe, Is your Cummins turbo-ed? If so, it will handle the hills like a breeze. As to maintenance, I would make sure that all the fluids have been changed when necessary, as well as the fuel filters and dessicant filter for the air brakes, etc. I just recently purchased a low mileage 2005 Safari 40DP myself, and the fuel filters & desiccant filter looked original. I've found that when you buy a used rv, most of the time, unless you get good records on it, you should change out the fluids, including on the generator, to have a good starting point. I did all of this on my "new" one, and just came back from an uneventful 3,00 mile trip. The Tiffins are well built, top quality units, and should give many years of trouble-free service. MikeRe: Onan generatorIf the dealer who sold you the motorhome is an authorized repair facility for Onan, they can take care of it, and it should be done promptly and at no cost to you. If they are not an Onan repair facility, find a Cummins/Onan shop who will quickly fix or replace your unit. I went through the same thing a year ago, and Cummins had me back in business shortly. Overall, Onan generators are very dependable and trouble-free, but the fuel you get today deals much misery. That is the #1 problem they have with new Onans, according to the service tech I dealt with. Be sure and exercise your unit monthly as is recommended, too (after it gets fixed). Don't worry about putting too many hours on the generator, more hours are far better than few hours. MikeRe: Sales ad prices vs. Store pricesI just went through the same ordeal with Camping World in New Braunfels this week. I went in to purchase some items that were on sale through the internet, nd they informed me that I could no longer get the internet sale price in the store. I was unhappy to say the least since I had just driven 45 miles to purchase these items, but the sales people were nice and apologetic about the situation. They told me that they had just been informed that they could no longer honor the internet sales prices in the store. I did go ahead and order the merchandise online when I got back home. I must say that in all the years I have been doing business with Camping World, I've been very pleased. I also have been pleased to see Good Sam and Camping World merge. I've heard many stories about Good Sam coming to the aid of rv-ers, but fortunately have not had to call on them myself.
