All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.after weeks of reading this forum, I ordered the ELIM 3000, and although its still pretty new, i'm very pleased with it. I can't measure the noise, but it seems quiet enough (and this after using a Onan in an expensive motor home). And, thanks to the "Professor," I purchased the ELIM because you can get the full output out of one of the 20 amp 110 outlets. No problem running my a/c, lights, and once i also used the coffee pot.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.I too ordered an Elim 3000 recently direct from Elim; recieved it promptly, and like others, some of the crankcase oil had leaked out in shipping. Wiped it down & it started just fine. The recoil started didn't engage properly, so called Tracey at Elim. She immediately shipped a new recoil starter. To get all the output to my 30amp 110 RV plug, I purchashed an adapter that plugs into both of the 110 20amp outlets & provides the 30amp female. I'm extremely pleased with the $300 generator, especially since I was going to buy a much more expensive one until I found this forum & read all the input.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Your writeup on the Chinese generators was very thorough. In the past few years, I've been buying tools from Harbor Freight, and have not had a problem yet with any of them. Have even used one of their $50 wenches on my 4 wheeler, and it has held up. Now--I need gen help. I bought a Mobile Scout, wired for 50 amp service, but that's because it has washer/dryer connections. The identical unit w/o w/d is wired for 30 amp service. I would, of course, prefer to mount a generator in the unit as opposed to carrying one in my truck, but can't find any good, comprehensive advice as to how. Dealer wants $2,000 labor and misc parts to install an Onan 4000 Microquiet, and that doesn't include the generator! I want a quiet installation. I'll compromise some on convenience (inside starting, gas gauge, etc.), but won't compromise safety. I haven't bought a generator yet, so am open there. Do you have any input that might help?
