It’s a 42’ 5th wheel and I have to make a decision in the next couple of days on a concrete pad size. l’m thinking 14 x40 would be big enough to allow my steps to stay on the concrete ( solid, fold down kind) and a foot or so on the opposite side. No way I can afford a pad big enough for my truck and camper to sit on. Any advice?Screen for protection from the sun under pole barnI recently moved my 5th wheel from a indoor storage facility due to increasing cost, and parked it under a new pole barn my best friend built. He's given me the spot on the end, but the afternoon sun sets on that end. Here in south Georgia the summer's are brutal, so I would like to hang some type of mesh from the roof of the barn to give some UV protection to prevent fading. What do you know of that has worked for you in a similar situation? I know some will recommend a cover, but I want to be able to frequently and easily give it a quick wash and inspection.Retracting jacks while unhookedThis may be a dumb question, but here goes. I need to fully retract all my jacks on my Cougar so I can zero out the autolevel feature. In the past I've hooked up to the truck and then retracted. Just saw a video where someone retracted them while unhooked (was a different brand fiver), and it worked fine. I'm worried that my camper will go so low to the ground that it will damage my drain pipes for grey and black water. Is this possible, or do the manufacturers plan for this ahead of time and build them with enough room?Re: 2020 Cougar 368mbiI have this exact same model from 2019, bought the first one the dealership ever received. I pull with a 2016 Chevy Duramax 2500, and havn't had any problems. I will say, however, that in normal towing circumstances, this is the max that I would ever pull. Without a diesel engine, I really don't think it would work well for you.Re: Hitch sliding while unloadedThanks so muchHitch sliding while unloadedDoes anyone know of a lock or other solution to prevent my hitch from sliding forward and banging when I hit the brakes unloaded? When I hit my brakes slightly harder than normal my hitch slides forward and makes a loud thump, which I'm sure isn't good for it. It's a Pullrite Superslide.Re: Newbie question about retracting all the legsThank you. I can use my truck, just would have been a 1 minute procedure without having to do so.Newbie question about retracting all the legsJust bought my first 5th wheel a month ago after a few years with a TT. My question is, can I retract all the legs without being hooked to my truck? Will it balance just on the wheels, or will the nose come crashing down? Reason I ask is that my auto level system has an error that will require me to retract all legs as part of the reset procedure.Trailer wiring warningLooking for advice on anyone who has had this problem. I keep randomly getting a message to check my trailer wiring while towing my TT. It comes and goes every 30 min or so. From what I've been able to learn so far, it is very likely the TT wiring and not a problem with the truck, a 2016 Duramax. No sure if this affects the brakes or lights, because I have been towing in the daylight each time and have been on open roads without need to use my brakes at that moment.
