I thought about constructing some type of "catio" or screen room accessible from an open window, but given the distance to the ground, and well, now I have a screenless window to deal with, I opted for a purchased pop-up dog kennel with a floor, with plenty of screening for ventilation. The largest I could find. Cats are escape artists, and I didn't want to bet that she couldn't wriggle under anything that was staked to the ground. She seems content, but it doesn't solve the problem of her wanting to run for freedom anytime I think about opening the camper door. Since she's not having the collar thing, I simply toss her in a smaller wire kennel in the camper when I know I'll be in and out often. Our camper doesn't have the feature, but perhaps you could use an existing access door, such as a garbage container or laundry door, to create a closeble pet door for her to use to access an outdoor kennel.Re: Down payment on a new 2018 Grand Design Reflection 279RSTSWelcome, we're newbie GD owners too! This weekend is our first real trip more than a few minutes away from home. And we're double towing for the first time, the very reason we went back to a 5th wheel. I can't find anything I don't like about the Grand Design. It was the first unit we looked at. I hope you have many good years with yours and safe travels!Re: Fifth wheel shopping question, rear tow hitchWe upgraded to a 5th wheel with the hitch option for this very reason. It is just the two of us, no kids or pets. In MN, 70' is the maximum length of vehicle combination. Our 2019 Grand Design Reflection 150 Series 295RL is considered half-ton towable, but we tow with a one-ton. At 33', it keeps us at 64' if we tow an ATV on a trailer.Re: How long have you had your current RV?Current unit: 21 hours This is our 4th brand new camper in 7 years and luckily have never been screwed on the resale. Matter of fact, we made $100 on a 5th wheel after using it for two seasons. Our luck will eventually run out I know, but we are IN LOVE with the new unit we purchased last night. Hope it treats us well, because the layout is ideal for our current style of camping. Yipee skippy!! Tomorrow is our first night out!Re: Going RV TV ShowWe watch this show just to mock the fakeness. Eye roll worthy at best. We just bought a new camper last Saturday. Every unit we looked at, my husband would suggest we both get in the shower like on the show, and then asked where his clothes would go because I obviously would claim the whole closet. Oh and let's fold down every spare bed. No California king? Deal breaker. And we have to say "that's fantastic" like a thousand times. He's lucky I didn't slap him!Re: camping since the 40's Dutch_12078 wrote: When I was a teenager, my parents liked to embarrass me by telling friends that I started camping 9 months before I was born when I left on a camping trip with my father, and came home with my mother... ;) I'm stealing this. Same here for Son #1.Re: Destination Black Hills with RV & ATVI'll start there. Thanks for the tips!Destination Black Hills with RV & ATVWe have finally achieved the setup we've been after, a flatbed truck to haul an ATV and pull our travel trailer at the same time. Been dreaming about a trip to the Black Hills to hit the trails directly from a campground. This is brand new ground for us. It's just the two of us, no kids, no pets. We prefer full hookups with 30A service, but even boondocking will work if necessary. Does anyone have campground recommendations and/or favorite trail systems?Re: funnyI have dozens of free Canadian geese in my backyard, if anyone wants them.Re: Who?Somewhere between no and H*LL NO!!!
