We volunteered there a few months ago and really enjoyed it. (Using the term "we" loosely, as my husband was the one who actually worked most of the time.) It was a beautiful, peaceful setting and the elk are unbelievable. It is located approximately 30 miles inland from Seaside, Oregon. Both Seaside and Astoria are approximately 45 minutes away. Portland is around an hour to the east. If interested, check on ODFW website for more info.Re: Bullards Beach Oregon CoastI would suggest that you look at website: Campsitephotos.com and look at photos of sites. We were there in October and did have some problems with satellite reception- possibly due to dish being on top of motorhome. Not sure if reservations are available but I would suggest choosing a site that appears to have less tree coverage.Re: Anybody RV snowbird in So. Cal?We are finishing up our second month in San Diego area staying at Padre Dam Santee Lakes. This is our second visit and we have enjoyed the area- you can't beat the weather!! Lots to see and do. We are probably 30 miles inland, but feel like we are a loooooong ways from the big city. Many of the people here have been coming for many years. We will not be back next year- just want to see other places. (They also have a nice transit system-trolley- which is easy to access in Santee.)Re: Position wantedNot sure if it would be a fit, but check out Boyce Thompson Arboretum near Superior- ESE of Phoenix. it looks like it would be a wonderful place and we would love to volunteer there, but they want hosts from late fall thru March or April - I believe. They have a wonderful facebook page, which would give you a feel for what the place offers the public.Re: Campgrounds on western side of Glacier N.P.Love, love, love Apgar just inside the park! Downside is no utilities, but worth it in my opinion. I don't believe you are able to reserve a site, but we have always been able to get a spot. I believe there is a calendar somewhere that shows the time the campground has filled up in the past.Re: San Antonio, Tx areaI believe that you might be able to find lots of information from previous threads regarding San Antonio. We have stayed at Traveler's World, which is just south of the downtown area. It is not a fancy park, but seemed nice enough. We only stayed 2 or 3 nights. There is a public bus that picks up directly in front of the park and goes by the river walk. When we got on, we told the driver our intentions and he was helpful in letting us know when to get off. We thought it was a great plan, as parking is so limited in downtown and usually a bit of a walk to get to the populated area of the riverwalk.Re: Suggestions for trip to Grand Canyon & Arches? There are several private campgrounds around Moab, however most of the national park campgrounds and blm campgrounds might not be a good fit for your 40 footer. About 4 yrs ago, we visited in a 40 foot fifth and wheel and chose to stay at Portal RV resort on the northern edge of town. There is a privately owned side and a side for public use. The private side is exceptionally nice and the owners allow their sites to be rented, when they are not using them. An added bonus for that time of year- a pool! There was one campground somewhere near Deadhorse Point State Park, that we might consider, but it is quite a ways from town and other parks, which would be a negative IMHO. A beautiful area!! Have fun! Agree with previous posters regarding Ouray/Durango area, but if you go that route, be sure you are aware of roads.Re: sheep herder ( ? )What a cute pic! Had to share it with friends!Re: Western National ParksGlacier NP Grand Tetons NP Rocky Mountain NPRe: icloud??As camperforlife noted-use it when hooked up to wifi. If you are on a limited data plan, pics can use quite a bit of data. At least that is what I think caused our jump in data usage...
