Doing some research, I have found a lot of good information on AGM type batteries. I see a lot of good things being said, and very little negatives. About the only negative I can find, is they cost more. However, if they are going to last longer, be more reliable, and have less issues, it seems worth it. So, I wanted to ask the forum, if anyone has any negatives about the AGM type batteries, versus the flooded type ? Thanks JoeRe: Ever buy a piece of property to have your own camp site?We bought mountain property, and love it. We are in Colorado. For many years, we camped in places such as Forest Service / BLM land. One of the things we noticed, the places we can get to with the trailer, so can a lot of others people. Most of the time, it was not too bad. But a few times, we had people trying to camp in the same spot as us. Then, there are the motorcycles / ATVs, etc.. (NOTE: To each his own, they have every right to be there, just like we do, so I am not complaining that they should not be there!!!). When there are more cycles going down the dirt road, then there are cars on a 4 lane highway, well... its time to move to another spot. So, the wife and I decided to start looking for some property of our own. We spent about a year looking. Found a lovely 40 acre plot, that we now call our own. Its only about 1.5hrs away. Some things that need to be looked into: HOA dues, Taxes, other fees, Rules, etc.. Our place is zoned agricultural, so the taxes are less than $25 a year (not bad, since a county over, the same type of land was $4000 a year, and this is only 5 miles away). Our HOA dues are low, and we do not have any other fees. The HOA allows campers to be permanently parked (which ours is mostly). We have neighbors, but we hardly see or hear them. We do not have any running water, electricity or sewer. However, I have six, 6 gallon water cans, which I bring up every trip. I have a generator, if needed. And I have a portable tank (for the black water). Which, when full, I drive to the nearest campground, and dump. Our goal, was to find a piece of land, that we can use for camping, etc.. And in a few years, we may consider having a house built. So, it may be worth checking into. Take your time, find something that fits you and what you want. Good Luck.Re: Dumping black tank - for stationary travel trailerThanks for some good ideas (and some not so good... lol)... When I do dump the tank at the campground, I am able to flush it with water (has a water inlet valve on the top, for flushing), so the portable does get clean. And I have started taking the tank home, dumping at another dump site, on the way home (saves time). And unfortunately, I do not have an easy way to dump the portable at home (no sewer lines to dump into, without going into the house... and the wife has already said "NO WAY" to that...lol)... I have considered calling a company, to empty the waste. I may have to check into that more.. Thanks everyone!Dumping black tank - for stationary travel trailerJust wondering if anyone out there has this same situation, and what kind of solutions are available. My TT is parked on our mountain property. It is mostly stationary, but we do take it out once in a while. We use it a lot on the mountain property. I am trying to find different ideas / solutions for emptying the black tank. I have a portable tank (27 Gal), in which I dump the black tank, after every trip. After 2 trips (sometimes 3), we have to empty the portable. In which case, I have to load it into the back of the pickup, drive to the nearest campground (1.5hrs driving time) to empty the tank. While this has worked for a few years now, I am trying to find another solution (if any are available). So, I would like to find out if anyone else has a similar situation, and what they do. I can not install a septic system on the property at this time (county says the house permit must be in place, before a septic can be installed... and there are no house plans at this time). Anyone have any ideas ? ThanksRe: Truck TiresHas anyone used Discount Tire, or Big O Tires? I have used them in the past, for older vehicles, and have been happy with both. I am getting ready to go down to both, and see what they have to offer. Just wondering if anyone has had any good / bad experiences with either of these..Re: Truck TiresI am also in the market for new tires. Sort of the same scenario, tow the TT a few times a year, mostly during the summer. But looking for a nice ride in my GMC, 2500. And I would like something that is good in the rain/snow. Not really interested in off-roading. currently have LT 265/70/R17.. So any recommendations on those, I would be interested in.. Thanks..
