All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: FDR state park campground in GeorgiaIt is one of the better state parks in GA. Some sites have sewer and all with Electric and water. Sites are pretty good but if you have a big rig you will want to choose wisely. Lots to do in the area. White Springs and Callaway Gardens come to mind. I really doubt the lake has any alligators but it is in the south. I would not worry one second about the gators.Re: Harrisonburg Va to Elkins WVOP here. I have decided to take Hwy. 33 tomorrow. I have driven mountains all over the Rockies from Colorado to Canada so it should not be a huge deal. Thanks for all the help. I do appreciate it.Re: Gasoline/Diesel ShortagesWe are traveling through the back roads of western Virginia today. What we saw was that one town would have gas stations open with fuel while the next town had all the pumps covered as if they were out of gas. We got very lucky and filled up the RV and toad so we will be good to go for another 13 nights as we do not travel but every three days or so and do not go very far when we do move. Hopefully this will be all over soon or by the time we need gas again.Re: Harrisonburg Va to Elkins WV Retired JSO wrote: 33 from Rawley Springs to Franklin is a motorcycle delight. You will get your workout. I have had my fill of workouts through Virginia this trip. Do you think Hwy. 250 or Hwy. 48 would be better? I do fine in the mountains just prefer not doing it every few days.Harrisonburg Va to Elkins WVWe are planning to move from Luray VA to Elkins WV in a couple of days in a 36' RV with a toad. How is route 33? Thought someone may know if this is OK or have an alternative route in mind?Re: Why Can't I Reserve this? You can make reservations to any Florida State Park 11 months in advance for 14 days. The trick is that if you found a park and wanted to make a reservation for Feb. 7-Feb. 21, which is eleven months from tomorrow, you will need to book that in the morning at 8AM eastern time. The problem is that even if the campground has a bunch of sites available for the selected dates they will get booked within one second of 8:00 AM. Trust me, I just made some of my reservations for Jonathan Dickinson State Park near Jupiter today for Feb. 6th 2022 for 14 days. It took me over a week to get a site trying every day at 8AM. Second problem is you are not the only person trying to book the available sites. Hundreds of others want those site too. My advice is be patient and be ready at exactly 8 AM and try to book them quickly. Remember you will have a second or two. The screenshot you posted shows all sites reserved because they are already taken. There are a couple of single days available but all the days prior to those dates and following those dates are booked already. Just keep trying. How much you try depends on how badly you want to stay there. We went through the same thing last year when booking state parks in Florida for January and February of this year. Just got home last week.Re: Bishop caHighlands RV Park x2Re: Opinion on a campground? One last post and I am done with this. We can close this thing down as it has gone a totally different direction than I ever intended it to. The email I received about the 12:30 am quiet time was received AFTER I made the reservation by phone along with the receipt. I admit I did not notice the quiet time rule at that time. Nothing on their website says anything about quiet time. We were given a sheet of rules at check in that stated quiet time was 11 pm. Reservations can be cancelled but no refund under any circumstances. I stated I was not seeking a refund then or now. I will not name the campground. I never said the situation was totally out of control. It just disrupting what was to be a quiet peaceful week. We have moved on and will enjoy another adventure in another place starting today. By the way we travel extensively and have stayed in over 100 different campgrounds in the past 18 months. We have complained one other time and that was because our neighbors tied their Doberman to their RV and went to the beach for the day. It left the dog with no water, in the sun and he barked at everything that moved all day. Did I mention it was in July in Florida? The staff came over immediately and found the owners and resolved the problem. Thanks to everyone who understood my question and I hope to be a part of this forum for a long time in the future.Re: Opinion on a campground?I love this forum and although I do not post very often I have read most everything the past couple of years and learned a lot from the kind people who are here to assist everyone. I stated twice already but will try again for the sake of valhalla360 mainly. I will try to go slowly just for him this time. I am not trashing the campground. If I were, I would name them. I stated in the original post and I quote "... Broke every rule known to any camper. I will not go into each and every rule." I thought most intelligent people would know what that meant. But just for you I will list a few. "NO GLASS. STRICTLY INFORCED." It was all caps in the rules. Beer bottles were everywhere. "No more than four campers per site." They likely averaged around eight or nine but by dark they were mostly at one campsite. "Responsible drinking is allowed in concealed containers or a koozie. Those intoxicated will be removed or asked to leave the property." They compound fractured this one. "Keep noise including the playing of music or shouting at a reasonable level." They slaughtered this one. "Guests and visitors must leave premises by 6 pm." The guests not camping started arriving after six the first night. I could go on. All I wanted was to know was if anyone thought the 12:30 am quiet time was strange on the surface. Jeez!Re: Opinion on a campground?OP here. I can clear up a few things. Yes we did receive an email with the quiet times prior to arrival. I just missed that line. Nothing was mentioned when we arrived about a group. The other rules were the usual stuff about pets, no loud music, two vehicles, four campers per site and the basics. The campground only has about 28 sites which are not much more than a gravel parking lot. FHU and clean but all the sites are side by side in two rows. I feel they should have warned us upon arrival. The owners were very nice and accommodating the first two days but have totally ignored us since. Like they knew what was coming. No thoughts of calling the cops. My post was not so much about getting a refund or just complaining about a misadventure. It was to ask what others thought of the quiet time hours being between 12:30 am and 6 am. We are half-timers I suppose so we are off today on a new adventure. This will be in the rear view mirror soon. 'Lantley' - I agree but why have a set of rules if they will not be enforced? I would have no problem with a group. We have traveled in a group at times. My problem is with 50 people together drinking, loud until after midnight, music all day and most of the night, cars and trucks everywhere clogging up the roads and every corner of the campground.
