We figured on the velcro on the cabinet doors for extra safety. The other ideas were excellent... wrote them down, gave to my bride.. Had not thought about the triple slide shower door being an issue... it has a latch to lock it in the open position.... Again, thanks.......around 10/10 we are heading from upstate NY to Myrtle Beach. I probably need to expand on my earlier shower door suggestion a little more. You are correct that the triple pane sliding door has a latch for securing it in the open position. However, this was not enough. We either ran over a curb or hit a very rough road and one of the panes contacted another and shattered. The glass is not very thick for weight reasons and therefore not very sturdy. The dealer that repaired it observed that they had done similar repairs in the past. the latch for securing the door doesn't work for us and has actually come apart during our travels. also, the handle keeps falling off which actually is supposed to hold all 3 panes during transit. i have bolted 2 latches on the metal frame and put a bungee cord to hold the doors open during travels; seems to work pretty well. once of these days i'll get a new handle or fix the current one! the velcro straps seem to be a good idea to keep the cabinet doors closed; i tend to use the bungee cords as this is what i had available. our doors in the back bedroom seem to pop open during transit so we bungee them together.Re: Newbie Forrest1975 wrote: Hello everybody. Just got a 2015 Ram 2500 6.4 hemi and will be going to get my first fifth wheel this week. I will be driving from Perry, Iowa to Key Largo, Fl by myself and this will be my first experience towing a fifth wheel. . I am looking for some general advice for a first timer. Wondering if there's any routes I should avoid (planning on following gps) advice for campgrounds gas stations etc. also if anybody is towing with the same truck any advice on using tow mode, manual or auto etc would be greatly appreciated. try to stay away from the Atlanta area if you can; we've had some troubles with roads over the past month and if can make driving a bit challengingRe: High Pointe Microwave EM925RYSthanks all for the information, i'll be replacing the microwave shortly and get one of the powerline conditioners as well. might just have to take it to camping world to have them check everything else out as well.High Pointe Microwave EM925RYSso, checked in the camper today and the plastic pot we have was completely melted and there's a whole bunch of burnt plastic inside. Looks like there was a small fire. our 5th wheel is parked in the driveway and plugged into the 110 outlet via a heavy duty extension cord. everything else in the camper appears to be ok except that the battery didn't have a charge. i removed the battery and have that on a trickle charger in the garage to see if it will survive another season. i was away for over a month during december and i saw that the power had gone out. is that related? power surge? should i not have the camper plugged in all of the time? i'm also looking for suggestions on a replacement microwave as i don't trust that this one will work for us any longer.Re: need a towwhere are you located? you might be able to get someone on the board to help you out for a few $ and/or a case of beer...Re: What do you cionsider the "best" tow vehicle tire? Curly2001 wrote: Has anyone tried Firestone Transforce? I have the Transforce HT on my 2013 Ram 3500 SRW in 18" size. we tow a wildcat 337FB which is in the neighborhood of 12k lbs. I now have 37k miles on the tires, which have only been rotated 1x and they are doing ok. I do need to rotate them again (and more frequently i know!). I would consider them again but only if the cost difference of the Michelin or Goodyear tires is significant. I have over 10k miles in the past 2 years towing this camper with this truck.Re: On line bill paying? braindead0 wrote: HTTPS is mostly secure. However running over a public wifi hotspot is risky, and if your device is configured to allow auto proxy discovery then you are at risk for a couple of fairly new key discovery techniques that can expose your login information and traffic. A lot depends on how good your bank security folks are and how trustworthy the WIFI operators is. Password protected WIFI does nothing to protect user data, it's strictly a means of access control. There are several options that can help assure your security, SSH tunnel to a known safe server, good VPN service, TOR. However all of these require proper configuration and good security practices on your end. I would recommend paying bills on AT&T and only using public WIFI for browsing, email, things that IF someone was able to access it wouldn't mean an empty bank account. AT&T should have their 'stuff' together, and the risk of rogue proxy or MITM attacks should be minimal. +if your bank offers it, opt in for 2 factor authentication; if they don't, switch banks! i have that with Chase. every time i use a different computer or something about the computer changes, i get a txt message with an additional code to enter before accessing the bank accounts. just another layer of security.Re: RAM 3500 Diesel Owners - Still Like Your Truck? It does a fine job of getting the trailer moving and more importantly, stopping it, engine brake is great! I get around 10.5 MPG towing, i can't complain with that at all. sure there are the recall issues but those were repaired without any cost. I've had to have the 8.4 screen replaced 3 times so i'm not very happy with that, again no cost to me. I change the fuel filters every 12 months and oil every 6 months. Getting ready to put new tires on this fall, otherwise, it's been a really nice truck for us. Now if there was just another 2-3" of headroom in the cab, i'd be much happier. maybe the redesign in 2018 will address that. i may consider an upgrade to the DRW at some point in the future if we decide to go full time otherwise i expect this truck to be with me for a long time. I am 6' tall and have plenty of headroom. How tall are you? Do you have the sunroof? no sunroof, i learned my lesson with my 1500. i'm almost 6'6". if the headliner wasn't curved downward, it would help; but then i'd be looking out of the top of the windshield. i'm considering changing over to a class A, there's definitely enough headroom which i'm in the driver's seat!Re: RAM 3500 Diesel Owners - Still Like Your Truck?i have a 2013 CCLB SRW 4x4 that i use to tow our Wildcat 337FB.
