For smoother shifting and less wear in winter, use Chrysler ATF+3 or ATF+4 (there are numerous “universal” fluids, and one which conforms to Dexron III and/or ATF+3/+4 should work). " Source: Allpar @j-d yes, it's the 2nd dana axle i use full syntetic 75w140 fluid, because it has very good lubricating properties and the highest heat reserves. You are in Germany now?Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Thanks for the Partnumbers StingrayL82. Last weekend i did my first testdrive. Changed transmission fluid (6 quarts Mopar ATF+4), differential fluid (75W-140), new Carter Thermmo-Quad 4BBL carburetor, new ignition parts ...... The fluid in the diffential had consistency like honey :-) The engine and the TF A727 are running very smooth but after a 20 miles long round i put my hand on the rims and both front wheels were very hot. The front brakes didn't release. So yesterday we changed the front brake hoses, brake fluid (DOT3) and checked the caliper at the front brakes. The brake pistons at both tires were very stiff, so we removed the brake pistons, cleaned the calipers inside, changed the old rubber rings and assembled the calipers. The brake fluid had a color of rusty water, so i think it was the first brake fluid from 1979 :-) The Dodge is starting, running, shifting and braking very well. There are still only little things to do like changing the head lights, repairing wiper linkage... Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?How many ft lb would you recommend for my 8 coned nuts single wheels? I tightened the nuts with 180 Nm (133 ft lb) Dodge Sportsman from 1979 Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?StingrayL82, photos please :-)Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Thanks Griff, the PCV line is connected at the PCV Port. In most Edelbrock-threads, people advise to connect the distributor line to the timed vacuum port. For example in this topicRe: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?I have next question ;-) At my Carter Thermoquad i had a vacuum line from the carburetor to the air pump diverter valve. Now at my Edelbrock 1406 carburetor i have 2 vacuum ports. Timed vaccum port and manifold vacuum port. I use the timed vacuum port for the distributor and the manifold vacuum port is free. Should i connect the vacuum line from the air pump diverter valve to the manifold vacuum port at the carburetor or should i deactivate (cork) the vacuum line from the air pump diverter valve? Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Fbx-Ak, Holley Sniper fuel injection. How cool is that! What is your experience? Before and after, if you had a comparision between the carburetor and injection. My edelbrock is running very smooth. At first run we had some problems with leaks after shutting off the engine. I opened the cover and saw that the float needle valves were clogged. After cleaning with brake cleaner, the engine is starting immediately now and everything is dry. No gas smell is a very new experience for me with this car :-) I hope that this weekend i can take a testdrive. The Edelbrock Performer is very simple carburetor, so the most vacuum lines i can deactivate. No heated air port, no EGR, no pcv/canister port, no choke diaphragm port... Only PCV and distributor ports (time vacuum port & manifold vacuum port). My distributor vacuum line is connected to the time vacuum port. Aha, after after reading the Edelbrock manual i bought a new fuel pump: Carter M6886 with 5.5 to 6.5 psi max. pressure. The most mechanical fuel pumps have 7.5 psi and it's too much for some Edelbrock carburetors. I put my old fuel pump to the spare parts. Griff, the technical discussions are very interesting and that's it why i like this topic and the users here. ;-) Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Thank you guys! Very interesting discussion and a lot of informations and links! I was a littlebit surprised, as i couldn't finde a fuel return line at the carburetor. A very simple way to cut the fuel supply when the engine is not runnig (in case of an accident) would be an emergency shutdown by a standard relais and oil pressure sensor. No oil pressure = no power at the fuel pump. Or by the D+ signal from the alternator to relais and the relais switches the fuel pump on and off.Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?The 2 another questiona are: 1. The carburaters have no fuel return line? 2. What is this? Do the Edelbrock need this vacuum part? Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Hi Guys! Because my 4 barrel Carter Thermoquad leaks i bought a month ago a 1406 Edelbrock. Yesterday we wanted to replace the Thermoquad with the Edelbrock but we had some problems. On the left side (in the direction of travel) is under the carburetor an EGR valve and no place for the linkage of the Edelbrock carburetor. My plan is to remove the EGR Valve and close the hole with a cap. What is your opinion? similiar to that:
