I found this out firsthand a few months ago when traveling back from the beach in June. One thing the recovery truck driver mentioned to me was this fact. He's seen too many class C RV's over the years that had issues with tires because the larger class C's are already at the max weight when coming from the manufacturer. Add in all of the "stuff" we carry onboard and we are asking for blowouts or failures, especially on the "steer wheels". He recommended a manufacturer that makes a direct bolt on wheel replacement to upgrade the factory wheels from LTV tires to actual Truck tires (17.5 inch) and having a much large capacity of load carrying... Rickson Wheels in Maryland makes a bolt on wheel that takes a truck tire of 17.5 inches and gives a much larger capacity for the tire, thus causing less chance of a failure that will surely leave you stranded on the roadside. I purchased 2 rims for the front for under $500 for the pair and had tires installed locally and no more issues with tire problems when I travel. Upgrade your class C to truck tires and avoid all the issues with factory tire sizes and makes and you will travel with a lot more confidence. Nothing better than piece of mind that you have wheels/tires that can actually handle the loads. The manufacturers would have you think otherwise but you NEED to upgrade the wheels to truck tires. https://ricksontruckwheels.com/wheels-ford-e350450.phpRe: What RV damage has Gorilla Duct Tape repaired?Nothing on the RV yet but I do have a piece of it covering a small hole punched in the top of my conversion van from a softball foulball last summer! Still no leak!Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Dropped it off for yearly state inspection.... ....phone call 2 hours later = 3 new tires and a new marker light.... Wasn't expecting the tires! ouch!Re: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here! We complain here in Anacortes because Seattle has cheaper gas prices, and the local refinery manager told me that the paperwork had to go to Seattle and back. Actually, WA is #9 in gas tax rates: Gas Tax rates by state What surprises me is NY @ #1, while across the river NJ is @ #48.... Wonder what the street price is between the two? I'll bet little difference.Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Paid my yearly Pennsylvania registration fee to PA DOT.... Now to get it's inspection done before July.Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Just dropped off my C at the truck shop this AM for a simple check of the front end alignment (been pulling to the right recently) - to find out its not going to be just a simple alignment, more like two lower ball joints, new calipers, pads and hose to both sides.... ouch! Other than that, mechanic said everything else is in real good shape...Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Replaced the waste valves (gray and black), installed Tornado tank flushers on both waste tanks, bought and installed Sony Blu-ray player.Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Finished mounting this: removed old 19" tube tv and made a cabinet door to mount the 32" on. Oh yes.... we'll be "roughing it" this camping season! ;-)Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Completed the LED conversion by installing the remaining 14 light fixtures with the updated LED design. Light output is 1000x's better than the old light fixtures and old bulbs. Stained the new cabinet door where the new TV will be mounted later this week.Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Removed the old CRT Tv up front and began preparing the opening for a cabinet door and a 32" LED and TV mount. Making storage space of the old cabinet. Removed the old CRT in the back bedroom. Planned what to do to mount the new 16" LCD and blu-ray player (once the back wall is repaired - peeling paper from a leak long ago) Test fitted the new LED main entryway light fixture - looks great and gives great light. Can't wait to replace the other 6 doubles and 8 singles throughout the unit! Looked at carpet samples with the wife to pick out what is replacing the old, worn out carpet from 1999. Looked at counter top laminate samples with the wife to determine the color we will be replacing with in the next month. Measured a number of other items for replacement in the near future. Decided with the wife that the towels mounted to curtain rods on the windows in the cabover are due for replacing - day night shades in the near future. Before I stepped out of the C and locked her up for the night - I looked in my wallet to see how empty its going to be once I'm completed with the refresh of this rig!! (still enough to go camping with it, though!!) good night!
