It's just SO nice isn't it?Re: Chicago area dog fluI'm in the area. I'm pretty anti-vaccine for these types of things but did have my girl done maybe 2 years ago due to an outbreak which touched my friends in a bad way out East (no deaths but it was very bad).... My girl goes to dog school at least twice a week, various dog events, and yes - we go to the dog park each day (where I'm always super careful about my 'no sharing of water' rule. I'm bringing her in this week again for it. I don't like it, don't want to do it.... but her lifestyle does put her in a high risk category. I saw zero ill effects from the first vaccination. If she didn't have this lifestyle I wouldn't do it. I'd just be careful/prudent right now. By the way, it's not just in Cook County.Re: Small Trailer Family of 5(Lance Disqualified ThemselvesRant)I've puzzled out a way to have the tent AND the window. LOL ;) Oh and sadly Lance is now putting in smaller rear windows in the 1575. :( Seems to be the same windows that are used on the side of the front area by the bed.Re: Small Trailer Family of 5(Lance Disqualified ThemselvesRant)G - Have you looked at all the Livin Lite options? They use the wonderful European windows and have tent options. They are very flexible also with tents, windows, and various options and will customize. They're very lite (all aluminum). They're the only company I've found that offers a ONE tent option like Lance used to have. I'm still unclear why companies feel a need to create 'hybrids' with 2-3 tents. It's like they can't get past adding a ton of tents. What's wrong with 'one' nice tent? IDK http://www.livinlite.comRe: Small Trailer Family of 5(Lance Disqualified ThemselvesRant)The top offering is 4,400 pounds heavier and 12.5 feet longer quite a category leap?Re: Small Trailer Family of 5(Lance Disqualified ThemselvesRant)Grodyman - I hear every word you are saying. It was special and unlike anything else out there. I would've ordered one on the spot with cash had I been told it was being discontinued. I've been in touch with my dealer on it and I was never informed and he claims he didn't know either. Lance claims they sent a memo to all dealers giving them 2 weeks notice to get any orders in. Lance being flexible enough to make one? Lance is very 'not' flexible and I've been told this by many dealers. Was told they're one of the most if not 'the' most unflexible. Yes I've tried and am still waiting to hear back. It's been 2 months now and I still don't even know the part number for the kit. It seems to be a mystery. The problem with the tent version is it was basically unadvertised for ages. It wasn't even listed in the build sheet and was almost a silent option. Nor was it in some brochures. Many people I've spoken with that were buying or had one on order didn't know there was a tent option. Rexlion - finding one used is a problem given they hardly made any (because many didn't know it existed for a while!). Literally it wouldn't surprise me if only 10 were made to date. Grodyman - I'll PM you with what I know. I've not given up yet.Re: New Jayco Jay SmartI disagree - lightweight comes at a price. Techy and not light doesn't have to be flimsy at all. That said, there's such strong PR on the Jay Smart that I almost wonder if the person from Jayco gave me wrong info. I remain hopeful.Re: New Jayco Jay SmartI contacted Jayco about this and was told.... "it's been determined, with input from our dealers, that the timing on the Jay Smart is not quite right and has turned out to be cost prohibitive for the market segment we were targeting." The disparity between USA and overseas is astounding to me and I was really excited to read the Jay Smart was actually going to be launched. What did they do? Talk to some dealers in Indiana? Someone needs to step up. So disappointing.Re: Looking for a more modern / contemporary travel trailer ?aedubber - I hear ya. It's very frustrating. 'Caravans' from overseas are so much nicer than from Mfrs in the US. Open expansive floor plans with those great huge european awning windows. Tons of windows. Thoughtfulness of design. Care. I see none of that from US mfrs who just seem to parrot the same old layouts and seem to nearly be deliberate on installing ugly flooring, fabrics with giant palm leaves, etc. I'm not even looking for uber contemporary perse' - just some semblance of clean lines and Zen. I'm likely going to buy a Lance 1575 with tent (the only one in Lance's line that has those euro windows). I already want to put a new floor in and change/redo the countertops. The easy part is wrapping the booth fabric with something else, etc.. What floor plan type are you looking for?Re: Looking for a more modern / contemporary travel trailer ?I know. My main issue is they have no slide out (except brand new and it's a baby slide) and I find this makes a tremendous difference in space/feel. Then again, I'm looking for a smaller/lighter trailer. What about the used Airstreams? Then decorate it up as you wish.
