My personal experience thus far (bought one 03/04/2014) has not been a good one, setting aside my personal issues with Thor and Camping World which I am giving them full opportunity to resolve. I want to discuss and important process or lack of, that is: PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. Preventive Maintenance before, during, after a trip and while in extended storage should be a part of owning any vehicle, especially a MH. If you own an Axis/Vegas I highly suggest you open the engine compartment hood and if you can locate the most common of items to perform PM. Look for the oil dip stick, oil filler neck, trans dip stick, trans filler neck, engine air filter box and battery among other items. Locate them, touch them, remove and replace them. If your thinking of buying I strongly recommend you go to a dealer with one in stock and you do the same thing. After you accomplish my task respond back to my post and tell me what your impressions are. I know where my oil dip stick is, my oil filler, & my battery. I don't know where anything that has to do with the transmission. I would love to know what your hinting at? For the record I have had to call Thor a few times regarding my RV and they have been very helpful. One time I blew a fuse on the back of the radio and the guy walked me through replacing it.Re: Thor Axis drivabilityI have not had any issues with my Vegas's steering/tracking. I can literally drive with my pinky finger that's how straight it drives. Even on bumpy roads it tracks well. Maybe because I am used to driving my Jeep I find that the Vegas is easy to drive haha!Re: How Do We Classify an RUV?For those that are wondering how the Vegas/Axis performs on the road during windy situations, I drove my Vegas from San Jose, Ca to Mammoth Lakes, Ca through Lake Tahoe during a blizzard a few weeks back. The winds were so bad that a section of the 395 hwy was shutdown to high profile vehicles. I was able to drive my Vegas without issue the whole way. Yes I had to drive slower but at no point did I feel the vehicle was going to drive off the road. Also it handled the ice/snow on the road without issue... again I drove slow in the slippery areas. Also for those that are complaining about the fact that the RV is on an E-350 instead of an E-450 chassis, if you need more carrying capacity then just upgrade the suspension.Re: Our new THOR AXIS Love it so far!We too love our Vegas RV... such a great RV for our family! We picked ours up from Mike Thompson in Santa Fe Springs. 68k + tax... took quite a bit of haggling to get it that low.Re: Thor new coach Axis limbery wrote: Anyone compared these to a Forest River FR3 25 (actually it's 26'10") they look similar with a larger bath... but seem to be a foot higher and wider? We compared the 25ft FR3 next to a Vegas next to an a Via. We went with the Vegas. The FR3 is much roomier then the Vegas or Via but the bed over the cab seats is of a horrible design. It is held up with some magnets and you have to break it from each time you lower it and while at the dealer I thought I broke the bed a few times. The FR3 does not fit in a 25ft parking space where as the Vegas/Via does. I liked the Via as its more upscale but the sofa bed is much smaller then the sofa in the Vegas. On top of that even with the slide out it felt smaller in the living area then the Vegas. IMO the Vegas/Axis is the best 25ft RV on the market right now for the money.Re: Looking to connect with other Axis/Vegas owners GenoRV wrote: What did you pay? I've seen everything from $71,900 to $76,000. Geno VietVet1 wrote: Hello All, Just made a deal on a Thor Vegas, this is the first Class A, prior had a little 15' Coleman (very cramped). This unit is perfect for wife and I and grand kids when their in town. Can anyone tell me if the bunk ladder is standard equipment and what other pieces of equipment came with your unit, the sales guy seem to tell you whatever they think you want to hear. I paid 68K for mine.Re: Looking to connect with other Axis/Vegas owners Acei wrote: I understand that it comes with only one battery, but there is an option to add a second one. Could there be more space for four 6V batteries by any chance? There is room for 2 12V group 27 batteries and that is what it comes with. There is no room to add more unless you move the batteries to another location.Re: Magnum MSH3012M Inverter InstallThanks guys for the info... if I pull the reverse polarity fuses then I dont think my DC will work at all. These fuses blew once and I had no DC power (lights would not turn on) until I replaced those 2 fuses. I really appreciate everyone's help!Re: Magnum MSH3012M Inverter InstallAhh ok got ya, so I would take the output from my auto switch box and put that as the 120V into my inverter then the output from my inverter would go into my current WFCO AC/DC panel. I would then disconnect the DC portion of my WFCO panel by say leaving the Converter breaker in the off position. That sound about right?Re: Magnum MSH3012M Inverter InstallHi guys, thanks for the replys! My generator is a 4000K Onan built in generator. If I take the converter out of the equation by cutting its power then when I am plugged into shore power I do not get the benefit of running my 12 volt appliances off of shore power as they will always be running off of the battery. Is that not correct?
