Just hook it and go. Easiest system there is and nothing hooked to the toad..I've had mine for 10 years.....Dennis Ready/Brute I am not a fan of surge brakes with an engine brake. Going down a hill the Ready Brake will be applying toad brakes constantly. They will be warm/hot on a long descent when I have not touched the service brakes. That's not really true, We have the ready brute elite and I've wondered on long descents if the toad brakes heat up with the engine brake on, so I stopped once after a downhill and checked, they were warm but not overly hot. The force required to active the brakes completely comes from stopping the MH, or quickly changing the speed of the MH relative to the car. Down a hill with the engine brake on isn't enough of a difference in speed to push the surge all the way, until you brake. Which is the way it's supposed to work. The car brakes when you brake otherwise the speed is relative to yours. In the 6 years we've been towing our CRV with the ready brute system we have not had to change pads any more frequently than not towing. This is the correct info. The ReadyBrake does not cause my tires or brakes to get hot. I've been using this system for almost seven years, and have ZERO problems with it. I've never had another braking system for the toad, so I can't say what's good and what's a lot of trouble. I just know that the ReadyBrute/ReadyBrake system is great.Re: Have no electrical power and no propane on one side of coachOP, where are you? I doubt if you're close to me (Whitney, Texas), but if you are, give me a shout and I'll see if I can help.Re: Couch to reclinersI replaced our sofa with a Lambright Dutchboy wall-hugger theater seating unit from Glastop Furniture. We got the Power Recline option. This is the most comfortable RV seating I've ever used. I mounted a 32" tv under the overhead cabinets opposite the recliners and installed a wireless HDMI unit connected to the satellite receiver, so I didn't have to re-wire the entertainment system. It works great. No more 'crick' in my neck while watching tv. Only problem is, it's so comfortable I go to sleep. Oh well, I don't miss much.Re: Traveling michigan coastWe went to the UP last month. It was great; while everything south was hot and humid, the UP was very pleasant, almost cool in the early AM. We crossed the Mackinac bridge, then turned left on US2 and stayed in the Lakeshore Campground just a couple of miles from the bridge. Upon leaving, we went west around the top of Lake Michigan, then turned down the west side of the lake. Crossed into Wisconsin at Marinette and turned west away from the lake. It was a great trip. Safe travels to you.Re: electrical short in passenger chairBetter than a short passenger in the electric chair.Re: Is this actually possible??Many years ago in the Charleston AF Base newspaper, there was a picture of a large hose connected to the waste drain on a C-141. The caption read (not an exact quote -- too many years!) "### Aerial Port Squadron members refueling a C-141 preparing for a mission to #####." We always wondered why the reporter/photographer didn't think it strange that the "refueling" truck wasn't yellow, and didn't say JP-4 on the side.Re: Re-engine a class A wolfe10 wrote: Tom/Barb wrote: our Newmar does not need a new engine. The maintenance we have done is the injectors were cleaned and flow checked, and the intake Manifold was replaced due to a crack. VERY unusual. Normally, it is the EXHAUST manifold that cracks??? Off the subject, but just curious: Wolfe, are you without an RV now?Re: Coleman Trueair basement HVACI wish my current coach had basement air. It's much quieter than the roof units, so it's much easier to hear the TV. My basement air was in the 2000 Itasca Horizon. It didn't have the heat pumps, just AC. As it aged, I did have to replace a circuit board, start/run capacitors, and compressor relays. After that work, it performed like new. Parts were all readily available; I got them all from Makarios RV; prices were reasonable.Re: Special DL Required for RV's over 26,000 GVWR JaxDad wrote: donn0128 wrote: Its called recripical. Driving license and vehicle license covers you for all 50 states, canada and mexico There is one huge caveat to that however. As stated previously, reciprocity does NOT cover equipment regulations, so if your coach has air brakes and your home State does not require an air brake endorsement, you are NOT legal in states (or Canada) where such IS required. If this were true, you could not use your motor home in those states or Canada, since you can't get a driver's license or endorsement anywhere other than your home state.Re: Toilet Paper donkeydew wrote: sears catalog is getting mighty thin may have to switch to good sam flyers. Agree, but either is better than corn cobs. But the cobs are recyclable -- just toss them out in the yard and wait until it's rained.
