Looked nice, was the floor plan I wanted and then for some reason I noticed the small wheels, and it seemed odd. Did a little research and that particular models axles and wheels were marginal at best for the weight of the trailer. Not something most of think about. I found that floor plan from a different manufacturer and have been happy. Not saying they're all like that but worth thinking about. I will say that I think the interior of the surveyor was nicer than the one I ended up with but the piece of mind of bigger axles and stronger frame were worth it to me.Re: Stabilizer pads on a TT - I have to askI've noticed the same thing and just can't wrap my brain around it. Parked on soft ground, I get it but I see people all the time with the orange blocks out just parked on the driveway. Honestly makes me chuckle. Seems like a waste of time and money. I cut down a couple of 2x8's for pads and to level the trailer when needed. Guess we all see things differently.Re: Exhaust filterI did the delete on my 09 and couldn't be happier. Cost wasn't bad and only took a few hours to do my self. Worst part was fishing the wire for my tuner (efi live with dsp5 switch) through the firewall. My lmm is different than your lml and there is a ton to read about doing the delete. I usually drive with the 90 hp tune and have about 25,000 miles on the delete with no problems, smoke or exhaust smell.Re: Outside Kitchen alternativeWe have one and don't use it for anything other than coffee in the morning. I don't really see it being much more practical than throwing a coleman stove on a table. I think they're a waste of space in a way as the outside fridge is only useful when your plugged in and we always dry camp. Fortunately ours doesn't have the fridge and is fairly slim. Our cook top is pretty high off the ground also which makes it odd to cook on...great for some morning coffee though without waking everyone upRe: duramax exhaust brakeI have the efi live version on my 09 and am pretty happy with it. Only tow around 8000 lbs though but mountain passes have never been a problemRe: Our new trailer is junk.....That 24bhs is a great floorplan. We have the same floorplan from a different manufacturer and couldn't be happier. Kids love the big bunks. EnjoyRe: Family of 7......There are a lot of ford excursions around with the 7.3 diesel. Probably be hard to do much better than that for that many people and cost.Re: Mistaken ideas about how a diesel engine works dodge guy wrote: I think the big thing that some of us are saying is too stop with the HP wars, hold them where they are at and work on mileage instead. I see no reason why the new crop of diesels can't get at least 3+ more MPG! If they they put the effort into that instead of power lots more people would sit up and take notice. Years ago they said a gas V-8 would never get better than 20 mpg. Guess what mid 20's is what they are now getting! I agree with most everything you said accept the modern v-8 getting over 20. There's a website that tracks user uploaded mpg by vehicle and year (fuelly.com) and from what I've seen most on average are worse than diesels. Usually around 15-16 combined. I could be wrong but I spent a lot of time looking around on there and talking to guys at work with halftons a couple years ago when I was truck shoppingRe: Duramax is king of the mountain again IdaD wrote: If true about the HPFP, that's potentially an outstanding change by GM. That CP4 issue really loomed large when I was looking at the various diesels last year. If they also fixed the DEF tank, the only remaining thing I don't really like on the GM is the IFS and truthfully that's probably not a very big deal - I just kinda like having solid tubes on both ends of the truck. The IFS and the front end styling of my 09 duramax is about all I don't like about it. I always had straight axles and was concerned about the durability of my IFS until I nailed a lone parking curb I didn't see, hit it pretty hard/fast and fully expected to have broken something but it was fine. Still like the stance of the stock straight axle trucks a lot better though.Re: 2018 Ram w/Hood ScoopHopefully by time they get around to testing my emissions it will be considered a classic and it won't apply
